I went to a local store yesterday to check out their prices on stands. We already have lots of snow, more to come and salt on the road. The bolt is going into storage and I'll need stands. Anyway, the store was having their boxing day sale and the stands were 20% off. I bought a stem type front and one for the back. The one I got for the rear is actually a front with the two rubber roller type fingers. I got it because I vaguely remembered threads about how the bike can slide on the stand when the wheels are off. It seemed to me that style would grip better than the flat ledge kind. Here's the question: was I right that the rubber fingers will give a better grip? I'll be able to exchange it if there will be a problem. | ||

I think you'll find it's not wide enough to even fit the swing arm into. I haven't had any problems with my bike sliding on the rear stand other than once when it was wet and soapy, then it only slid a couple of inches. BUT if you're worried about it get a set of Axle slider/spools and use that set up. | ||

Use double sided tape to stick on rubber padding on the rear stand contact points, like the stuff that's used for toolbox lining or that stuff grandmas put in cupboards for their china to sit on! That's what i did and no more sliding. | ||

If you're storing with wheels still on the bike, you'll be fine. Even if the bike slides down the rear stand, the tripod effect coupled with the front stand will keep it upright, the only difference being the rear tire will be touching the ground. I've only ever noticed less-stable conditions when I have the rear wheel off my Uly. | ||

They're the BVP units on this page, the front fork and the front wheel stands. I'll check the width although it looks like they're using the same base and fitting different arms. I was figuring on probably moving the springs to the outside for the width.  | ||
