-=snort=- Ram air is a placebo, for the most part. Any gain would be because you've given a larger total inlet for air into the box, not because it's being 'rammed' in. Besides, would you really pay $60+ for that POS? | ||

I dont even think it would work?? The factory race ram airs take the air from the bottom of the screen, where head on air will be forcing its self in, this thing has the inlets at the top and at a backward angle where the air will be rushing past! Plus you can buy this stuff from the vacuum store for about £5.  Cya Stot | ||

lmao........its hardly RAM AIR either........I mean look where the inlet vents are......they are the same curve as the screen......so in effect the wind is "SKIMMING" across the surface of the intake, it should be lower for a start and wider to force the air direct into the box. And as Dynarider said.........its fugly as a mofo!! | ||

yep, looks like the maker went to his local hardware store and vacuum store and built a really nice POS! What a hack job! Could not agree more with Steviejay01, the air is just skimming over the top and actually sucking air out of the air box, WAY TO GO Florida designer! Yeah, lets reduce the air volume and suck more air out of the engine! Great job!  I bet he will claim to be an aerodynamics engineer or something next! | ||

Of interest, considering the location of the inlets, I wonder if the laminar air flow will cause a venturi effect creating a vacuum and defeating the original pressure Buell designed into the XB12's. Erik and the Boyz spent a lot of time tuning that velocity stack and this could totally defeat its purpose. Might just work at low speeds but really mess up your bike as you pick up the pace. Sort of like working real well on a dyno where you don't have anything but a cooling fan but failing miserably in the real world, eh? | ||

Corey...Thanks for the pic of your X1. Gives me some ideas for down the road. Love the X1. Fits perfect. Well at least it did before I sat on an XB12R. Funny how the mental effect of the 12 over the 9 makes the whole bike seem bigger even though they are the same. Oh well, the X1 stays and hopefully it will be joined by an XB9DP (as in Dual Purpose) some day. Yeah, sure...and pigs fly. Happy Holidays!!! | ||

*Still laughing at the "ram air" in-bred vacuum cleaner on wheels* That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen on a motorcycle (aside from the M2 I saw with the fwd controls and ape-hanger handlebars, of course). What I found when I was perusing an XB site was this http://inextinc.com/xb9r/prototype_velocitystack.htm I'm usually skeptical when it comes to online claims of horsepower gains at a cheap price skeptical at first, but I went ahead and tried it out, because the redesigned stack seemed like a plausible idea. No disrespect to Eric and the boys, but if the factories always got it right the first time, there would be no aftermarket. Let me tell ya, I felt the difference in my XB9S Low as soon as I pulled it back out onto the street. It actually felt like a new bike when I got into the throttle. | ||

This Velocity Stack will work with the XB12 Air Box! No problems. It will not work on an XB12, but in about 3 weeks, the XB12 Version will be produced and tested at the dyno. The only issue is the mounting at the Throttle Body. This Velocity Stack will fit: 2002-2004 XB9's with stock and XB12 Air Boxes. Great question Darthane! Thanks! | ||

Boulderbiker, No inflammatory remarks taken... turns out these guys: http://www.bikehospital.nl/buellprojecten.php Have a far better idea of what a XB15 should be... the XB15 Prototype was nothing more than a XB12 Engine with a 1200 kit, a few more pokes and prods to get it to 1400+cc and it looked like the engineering was piss poor. Anyone on this web could do much better with the Nallin kit for the XB12. In other words, XB9 is one tool, XB12 is another, choose which one you like best or both and just plain use them! Since we have exclusive offering and now coming out with the XB12 Velocity Stacks, the price will be determined by Tat @ American Sport Bike. In about 3 weeks, the XB12 Velocity Stacks will be available. The XB9 Stacks are available now including the thermal blanket. These units are far better in fit & function to the ones built in Germany with the "Oven mitt" Thermal Blanket. We put a little more time into the development. Please post a link to it on the American Sport Bike site, then. I cannot find it. Will it be a kit that includes both the stack and the blanket, or sold separately? And I have to ask. Just how the hell did you manage 159mph, even indicated, on an XB9R...I only ask because that's about 20mph faster than anyone else I've ever heard of. | ||

You guys are just plain terrible. I'm sure a lot of time and thinking was put into the creation of that ram-air system. I applaud the guy or girl that came up with it. We need more people out there coming up with new and bizzare ideas for our bikes. We have already come to a conclusion that the snorkel is useless. We have figured out that putting 1/2" size holes in our airbox helps. I'm sure theres a few more. I think instead of slamming the product and people that live in florida lets find out if they really work. Suzuki had a similar design until they improved upon it. When someone with something exciting (maybe just for them) comes out and shares it with us the wolves come out and tear it up. Just my continuing opinion | ||

I'll try one if the price is right. Other than that I guess I'll wait until some dyno charts show up from a reliable source. If the 12 box top is a clue as to what will happen with a new stack, I'm in. I'll stay away from the nology wires though | ||

Glitch, wait until I get at least 4 more dyno runs under our belt, but thus far results are favorable at +4 rwHP. Far more important is ensuring that the torque curves do what we want at the RPM we want with these Velocity Stacks. Low-Mid is tremendously improved and top end appears for the time un-touched. We will be running some A/F Ratio tests as well. Will keep you posted and send dyno charts to the web and email when done. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Darthane, The Brion-James Velocity Stack will include both the Velocity Stack and a Thermal Blanket. Sent you a private message for the link to the actual pictures of the Velocity Stack and mounted installation on a 2003 XB9. Be patient, like I told Tat at American Sport Bike, a few more runs at the dyno to prove everything out and ensure that the torque is where we want it is far more important that just rwHP at the top-end. We want low-mid improvements for this XB9 Velocity Stack and thus far we have achieved it. I am also going to have dyno runs with Tat's (American Sport Bike) C.I.A. Air Box Cover and our velocity stack again to prove that we are making strong low-mid range power... The best thing we can do to our XB9's is just make them breath easy and exhale better! This with a Stage-III head job should prove very interesting and I will do those dyno runs also. Again, the XB12 Version is being worked on and should be available after Christmas. Only 120? I think you're selling it short... Let's see...stock XB9R is, say 75RWHP. Nology Wires: +25HP Splitfire Plugs: +15HP Intake Turbolator: Come on, with a name like that this thing's GOTTA be good for at least 40HP Polished Primary Chain: +10HP and reduced wear = PRICELESS! So...75+25+15+40+10= 165RWHP...not bad, not bad at all. You tack some chrome on and you'll be cranking 200+ in no time! | ||

Chrome doesn't add HP, it just makes you go faster Thats cause its more aerodynamic than paint or powdercoating. Those surfaces can be rough & add to wind drag. Chrome a Firebolts front fairing & the riders helmet & with those extra JC Witney extras you can probably count on at least a 178.4mph on the salt. | ||
