To keep this "exhaust pipe" thread on topic, I opened a new thread for the horn issue. Keep the pipe pics coming they're awesome! |

Ochoa, I modified the front shield. I can't tell you what I did or how I did it because I'm just too stingy! After staring at the bike for hours, I realized it just looked a little too bug-eyed and scared so I smacked my bike around a little and made it angry...seriously that's how it happened! Thanks for the comment though. Nice Firebolt man. |

It looks like you just attached the fly screen using the top two holes, into the bottom two mounting holes. |

Btw, if you did that the screen would be way too low and there's be a very noticeable gap between the instrument cluster and the top of the screen. It'd be a big problem if water got in there....Again, don't even try it |

damnit evil, keep it in Jersey then and don't tell anyone! I feel like "my" mod is becoming not so original. That's cool tho I think all Lightnings should look bad ass! |

Hey evil, don't get water down the front you'll short out some pretty important electrical equipment. It's a tough one making it waterproof too, just an FYI |

It's a tough one making it waterproof too, just an FYI I would use 5minute epoxy from autozone: open up the electronics... place the epoxy on the vulnerable areas (where they may be), close and tighten within the 5minute window.. and now you have a waterproof seal.... I wouldnt place the epoxy on the electronics themselves (circuit boards & wires), as because it may be a insulator and overheat the electronics. The epoxy, after it hardens, has the properties of rubber |

I used electrical tape on the wires but that's probably not good enough if i got caught in the rain so I made something to enclose the 1-1/2" gap all together. I'm sure there's tons of ideas out there and some probably way better than mine at that! I bought a really unique bike but for some reason I still want to do so many custom mods to it to make it truly one of a kind; sort of why i'm fascinated with the open pipe idea. I just need to think this one through for a while! |

I have a drummer, there's probably a thousand threads on exhausts that'd help you out but I wouldn't suggest chopping the pipe you'll probably get some unwanted blatty sounds and power loss. Free noise: Zip-Tie the exhaust valve cable to a bolt on top of your airbox - that'll open the valve and give you an open stocker with some louder tunes at idle. |
