I'm thinking about bidding on a wreck if the forks are bent what is the chance that the frame is also bent and the bike will never be the same again? |

I remember make a thread about crash/frame possibilities (went off topic to this subject).... and I was told about the 'crumple zone' engineering of the XB bikes.... did you read it? there is a possibility the frame is damage.... |

Now I remember thanks I think I'll pass on this one if it bent both forks it probably effected the crumple zone. |

Is it online? If possible post a link, we can give our opinions on damage. Buells are tanks, it takes a lot to total one Oh yea, often bikes get totaled for nicks and small dings in the frame that do not affect the structure. |

I've bought a couple of salvage XB's and i have found the frame is usually straight as long as the top triple clamp broke. Actually both the bikes i bought salvaged broke the triple but had straight forks. |

It was a salvage bike auction that closed this morning. Looked for it but seems to be gone. |

$5K? Holy Schnikes!! How much you can get for it all depends on how bad the engine is. You could buy another XB12R for 5K!! If it needs a rebuild then you're definitely not getting 5k. I would fix it myself, especially since it has been sitting for 6 months. Doesn't seem like you are in a rush to get it fixed, so why not try it? (Message edited by jeffroj on November 25, 2008) |

For under 2K you can get a used engine for your 12R....5k??????. I he wants to buy your bike, he would probably offer in the 3K range as is, I see some complete bikes for sale in similar straits for 3.2K No way is a single dead cylinder rebuild worth 5K.... did he offer vaseline to lube you up before you got jammed? Find another wrench! |

sorry to Swipe your thread but it's kinda on the same subject. There is an 04 firebolt for sale in cycletrader with 46,000 miles, right side frame dented, primary cover dented and leaking, right side swing arm brace missing, chin fairing badly melted somehow, home made car type headlights of some sort, small dent in header. frame, fork legs and swing don't appear to be scratched up. many other cosmetic flaws. asking 4500 but whats this thing actually worth. It needs alot to make it right. It can't be very safe at all with the missing swing arm brace. |

Asking $4500? Try $500. Ok seriously, $1500 tops. About $5k is the KBB for a good condition bike with under half that mileage. |

RIGHT FROGGY?! I bought mine,(05 bolt: 7k mi.) for $5500! Dont get wrapped up in an ordeal like that. $4500 could get you a damn nice used bike! KBB is 6400 for mine. I would look around for the parts, and fix it as you go. I have a kid on the way, so that would be my route of choice. Waaaaaay cheaper! |

My buddy hit a big-ass deer head on doing about 120kph on his Ninja Zx6r. Lots of broken green plastic and the wheelbase about an inch shorter even though the forks looked OK. Replaced the forks, triples and bearings in the frame but it is still an inch short. The frame looks fine. Somewhere something is wrong but, hey! now it handles like a Buell. |
