I have a guy who makes vinyl stickers for my business so I designed one and had had him make it up for my Shoei. I'm thinking about a simple Drummer sticker as shown in the photo. Which position do you vote for? The one on the can itself would obviously have to be painted on. I'm also having a "Powered by Harley Davidson" made up. I like the one on the can itself! My second choice would be on the chin fairing. Looks great in white or even silver! |

I vote for the chin fairing. I like all three designs. The powered by HD is pretty cool. Others may argue the technical accuracy of that, but I think it is a great tie-in to the mothership.

Brian, I would caution against using HD logo in conjunction with Drummer. That may "likely confuse" average consumer (not you all Buell buffs) into thinking that Drummer is somehow endorsed or authorized by HD. Yeah, it's their muffler in essence, but seek a legal advice from an attorney specializing in trademark infringement before using it commercially. You know how HD guards their intellectual property matters. |

Interesting, My impression was that the "Powered By HD" related to the motor, not the pipe. Was I correct in seeing it that way? Anon is right about one thing, there is risk involved from HD by using thier logo, but if it were me, making one copy for myself, I'd do it in a second.

KC, You are correct in your interpretation that the Drummer logo has nothing to do with the HD logo. I'm not sure why the anonymous gent saw it that way. As for the copyright deal on the HD logo, I'm only making one for myself, so I don't see it as a big deal. On the Drummer sticker, I'll get Brian's approval on the design before I make it. Steve |

Jerseyguy- How about hooking us up with that helmet sticker guy's number since he already has the pattern? |

So sorry for the confusion. My comment was directed to Brian (seller/manufactuerer of the Drummer), cautioning about using HD logo in conjunction with his Drummer. |

anon Oh I understand all to well about tall that stuff hd and such. Heck no I wouldn't put that logo on the drummer. Its just folks excited about a pipe that makes them happy. And I encourage that. It is made with love and happiness to make people happy. but yeah it will never be confused and I would never let it get confused.

I like the "Powered By" decal. Depending on size, color (white preferred) and fit locations on an X1, I would consider two of them. Don't see any technical accuracy problems. A number of HD Engineers that I know work on the Buell powertrain. Not to mention, it sure would be nice if it added value to our Buells. |

Jerseyguy, I don't think that Drummer sticker looks tough enough. Here are some font options that might look better. What do ya'll think? |

Hardluck, I can picture font #2 in white or silver about 3" high on both sides of the muffler.

Like Easyflier said, but I kinda like font #3. But Chainsaw's Logo looks Bad-Ass!!! |

Font #3 has smoother lines. |

True, but font #2 leaves something to the imagination and would look bolder IMO, but the only one I really don't care for is #5 for this application. |

Hey Charlie how you doing? Yea, those shirts would look good. I don't believe we'll hear anything about proprietary, or intellectual, property rights either Greg |

2bbuell - I could give you his number, but then I'd have to kill you because some anonymous lawyer might get upset. Just kidding, I'll ask the guy first. Seriously though, there are copyright laws to consider. Nevco1 - He can make the sticker in almost any color and any size. I'll take a pic of how it looks when I put it on. It's going on the frame under the airbox cover. Hardluckxb - I musta looked at 50 different fonts in MS Word & I picked Rockwell extra bold. I was going for strong, bold & simple. Brian & company can decide as its their baby. Chainsaw - Dude, that is a really cool logo. I love the southern flair - God forbid you might offend some liberals though! That would have to be made in a printing process versus a cutting process. Thanks for the input. I was hoping to get some good ideas from people more talented than me. Steve |

Brian, Would you guys consider painting it on my can for some extra cash? Maybe in a silver color to match the frame. There would be no doubt what it meant if it was right there on the sides like in my picture. I could have my sticker guy make a stencil if you need it. Steve |

Jerseyguy: Yup. There are several vinyl (i.e. decal machines) capable of printing the logo in a CMYK process and cutting the oval. Outdoor durability is 3 years, compared to 5-8 years with straight cut vinyl. (I've been working at a sign shop for 10+ years) Bigdaddy: I have already offered up the logo to Brian in exchange for a t-shirt if he uses it. If there is enough interest, I'll see what shirts would run. I have a guy doing shirts for my BRAG club as we speak. Minimum order would be 12, and I wouldn't do it without Brian's blessing (we come to some sort of arrangement). If you are interested, let's here quantities and sizes, and find out what it would actually cost. Again, I'd only do this with Brian's permission, till then it's just talk. |

Chainsaw - If I had my 'druthers, I'd 'druther put it on the can in a single color. Is there any cutable sticker material that can withstand the heat? Probably not..... Steve |

Man I gotta tell ya'll this is pretty amazing on a grass roots level sorta thing. I can tell ya this me and kevin could never figured ya'll would do or react to our pipe like this. It really feels good. we just wanted to make a good pipe was all that gave people what they wanted. What we obviously got was so much more. For that we both thank you very much!!!!! I do like chainsaws logo except...wheres the yankee heritage in there. I may live down here but I am a midwest farmboy redneck thru and thru. Kevin is as southern as you can get and somehow we work together I don't know what kinda arrangements could be figured out but if someone wants to talk about it I guess we could. Both me and kevin have alot on our plates with what we are doing so we would need some help with all this. as far as pianting on I think we could do it for an extra fee because that is what kevin really does for a living is paint and body work and custom painting. his work has been featured in magazines and he is really good at what he does. and settles for nothing less than perfect when it comes to paint. so I guess we could think about this and see where it goes. again thank you guys so much we never expected this. |

Brian, You should be getting my stock can UPS, maybe today even. Talk the painting over with Kevin. I don't mind being the test case. I'm not in a big hurry since the race can is on my bike now and we have a foot of snow anyway. Steve |
