Maybe I shouldn't brag about this but as I was getting off of work I decide to go for a little joy ride, I get attention from 4 people first an older guy at a stop light yells out, "thats badass I like how you ride" prolly earlier when I sped paced him and he prolly liked my dark helm and illegaly wearing a dark visor. Next a punk in a red GTI starts mouthing off to me...cant be because I paced him becuase he just turned in and almost hitting me. I was going speed limit...More cocking off to me, so then I snap theres this little part of me that just all of a sudden makes me throttle it. So...I guess I split lanes and weav in and out all around 100mph when suddenly I brake on top of a police officer slowed down to 52 and switched to his lane. I soon turn off to a gas station and little did i know that I passed an off duty state trooper that went further and got the Police officer and both came up to as I was just about to leave. Police man comes out and says were you splitting lanes I reply "No...what do you mean?" and the the off duty said "first before you say anything let me tell you I'm an off duty state trooper" So I told them both I was just tring to avoid a confrontation with a red GTI. Police man said "well my rear radar was blinking at 100mph and over and this gentalmen tells me you were splitting lanes so i come to the conclusion that the blinking was you switching lanes, then I had you clocked at 52mph I didn't pull you over because I wasn't sure it was you. Well i got away with a $229 dollar fine. No hard feelings for the officer its just too bad I got caught. Now my recruiter is going to be pissed. Have any of you gotten anything like that? or a load of tickets? (Message edited by 9m9knight on November 16, 2008) |

And I shouldn't tell you this, I don't give them my insurance card. If they just have to write me a ticket, I ask them to write it for no proof of insurance. Then go to court and show proof of insurance. Lack of insure card is a non moving violation. What you don't want any points your honor? No, it does not always work. |

Well I have not gotten my drivers license for the bike yet. when he asked for my license I said I just got the bike and i need the bike to get the license and i guess he went for that either that or he forgot to write me a ticket for no license. Maybe he was being nice, But could you explain a little more about that no insurance? |

Friend of mine is a cop. He told me a long while back that anyone he gets at 15 over gets a ticket. He don't care what he writes it for, but he is going to write the ticket if you are 15 mph or more over. He often explains that to prospects and that he is not sure he saw their proof of insurance card. A lot of them can't take a hint and they make sure he sees their card. So, he writes them for speeding. If you get a ticket for not having proof of insurance, and prove in court at a later date that you were insured at the time of the ticket, it does not raise your insurance rates, because it is not a moving infraction that messes with your points. |

We all mess up at times. Got done a while back just after getting my 07 XB12R. Saw the officer, looked down at the speedo - 140kmhr - looked up and saw the red and blues. Booked me for 116kmhr. which is the second tier of infringement. I could have lost my licence for that indescretion as anything over 130kmhr is as no-no. I keep an eye on my speed now. |

Some times you just get pinched. I was riding with a couple other buellers and we were just F@*ckin around on a not so traveled highway. We cracked them open and we were both doing over 110 mph, come over the hill and BAM!!!!! State Trooper sitting there. Hammered the brake and he saw us. Followed us into town and didnt even bother to pull us over. Thought i was done. Sometime you just get lucky i guess. |

yep, lucky story I have.... my group were on a fast run qith like 10+ peeps, and a friends radiator sprung a leak from a rock.. segway.. afterwards we went to go drag race eachother on this 2mile straight, we each picked whoever we think we could of beaten.. segway, waiting to race.. Cliff and I were next to shoot it out.. going full throttle down the straight this old beat up F150 was comming in the opposite lane going 120+mph and out of nowhere this truck flashes light, I was about to run but cliff respectively slowed down so I followed.... the truck then continues down to see the rest of the group for a brief scan and continues on his way... PHEW!!! a few other times the same thing happens.... one time I didnt have my mirrors on the bike and was hauling ass on a favorite road jamming out to loud music.. I never saw the cop, and he chasing me for about 5miles... then some soft music came on, coldplay, then I hear the sirens pull over.. the officer told me he was about to call in persuit chase, and he was pissed.. I explained my mirror reasons and music, he's was understanding, and only gave me a turn signal violation and a warning |

I got my first ticket on my 12S 4 days ago. I was riding back from a trip to the dealership at night, going with the flow of traffic and the car riding beside me in the fast lane would not leave my side. With a car in front of me and a car behind me, I said screw it, WOT I weaved around the car and there was the cop with his radar gun pointed directly at me. Before he could even pull out I was pulling over. I told the cop that the guy riding beside me kept trying to check out my bike, and kept coming into my lane so I did what I felt was the safest, which was to get the heck away from him. He clocked me with a 69/45, and knocked it down to 64 for me. Anyways, I am hoping the judge will see that I was just trying to avoid an accident. |

I just looked up the price of my ticket, $125. Dang I though it would be a lot more than that for going 19 over! Going to fight it anyway, due to insurance. |

Got pulled over as part of a group. Apparently we got called in as a few of us were being hooligans. The cop talked to the lead rider, then let us all go with a warning not to get caught in his jurisdiction again. |

In MN if you get a ticket for no proof of insurance, you can mail in proof within 7 days and there's no penalty. So I use the no insurance card trick- typically they don't believe you when you say you misplaced your card, they think that they got ya for no insurance and just write the ticket for that. Send in your proof, it goes away. It's worked at least 12 times for me. |

Rode right into a DUI checkpoint Sat night on my way home from an end-of-season party for my cycling team (hadn't been drinking at all). Everything checked out okay, passed their dumb "stand on one leg and count backwards" test, lic, reg, ins is all current. LEO then asks if he can search my bags and my jacket. "No." is my reply. He says in a condescending tone "Maybe next time, then." I replied "Most likely not." and rode off. I don't mind dealing with pleasant LEO's, especially if I did something wrong, even at a DUI checkpoint. Don't give me the holier than thou attitude for no reason however when I am nothing short of accomodating and sincere in dealing with you. |

Years ago, younger and pushing it. After we go to our favourite restaurant. A little later, the policeman came in and sat with us. Quietly let us know about a couple of guys who had been speeding around and what he could if he caught them. We took the hint. |

Everytime there is a new officer on the commute, I get pulled over. In the 5 years I have been pulled over probably 40 times on the way into work..... So far only one citation. All the rest were introductions to officer friendly and a cautionary, try not to have too much fun out there. |
