I'm considering changing the white bodywork on my 9 to the red bodywork from the 12, but being a relative Buell newbie (Buellbie?) I was wondering how frequently Buell changes bodywork colors. It would appear that the white color XB only lasted for one model year before it was discontinued. Do you think they would offer a red 9 next year to fill the gap left by the white? Does Buell offer new color options on a yearly basis? I would like some uniqueity if possible.......

If you want unique paint it. The only difference between 9 and 12 bodywork is the stickers, so there's very little cost difference in producing a black and/or red XB9 next year.

provided you can find someone that know's how to properly paint it. not to mention in it's current state, scratches, even deep, can be buffed out. painted plastic is going to show it's original color if scratched.

I would have to say there is plenty just in the automotive body shops that would know what to do with it.A scratch is a scratch, doesn't matter what color it is underneath it.Its still going to look like crap no matter what right???

I believe Buell bases is bike color decisions on the Rider Survey's it sends out. They asked my color preferences, and Ta-da, they're currently in production. FWIW.

I suggested red and black in a Buell meeting in january of last year and waalaaa! They came out with them!
Gee, maybe someone at Buell does listen to me?

Future color choices? Make the 9s available in the red and black!
Bring back the white on the 9R
Molten orange on a 9S would be cool.
Lose the sticker kits and come out with a factory custom set of plastics, I'm thinkin a black with flames(real flames, not the tribal ones) set for the XB9 and 12 R would be cool as shit. Have the windscreen flamed too. Been thinking of painting mine like this for a year now.
But then I'd be afraid to take it to the track, if I crashed I'd mess it up and void my warranty!

Ride to the edge!

I wouldn't sweat it Dave, just the paint job would probably void your warranty. :)

Did you ever finish the flames? If not try using some banner grade vinyl like a Mactac 900 series. And/Or put it down wet, this will eliminate air bubbles and the water will be squeezed out while you rub it down.

Im thinkin of covering my TDR250 in Vinyl all over to save on a paint job
