Buellster42, pull your battery contacts off and give them a once over with a wire brush...sometimes they start to corrode - not enough to give the bike serious electrical fits, but enough to kill the clock. Now, if the bike dies or something while you're just riding down the road, that's a little more problematic. |

Just crossed 10k on last Sunday's Toy Run. I split time with a HD and a GMC. Tough putting miles on the bikes with icy roads. If Darthane doesn't get back from the land of Sake and Rice Burners soon I'll catch up to his mileage before he knows it. |

Chainsaw Pet Peeves: Guys that call themselves "Bikers" that only ride 5 miles to the bar on sunny 80 degree days) Dude you nailed that one. I couldn't tell you how many people I know like that. I'm originally from Ohio and I've even taken a 4 hour trip with 6 inches of snow on the ground. I ride rain or shine out here. Some think I'm nutz, they just don't understand. |

Chainsaw, June 28th, I want to say was the day I took delivery of my Firebolt. One of the happiest days of my life! Unless something changes, I won't be riding my Firebolt again until August. You've got more than enough time to put another 5k on there. My XB won't reinsured until then, even though I'll be home for about a month in April. Just Blastin' around during that time. I've been asking the Thumpers about goodies to make him a little more interesting in the meantime. FYI, the Blast has about 10K on it right now. I am getting my international license while I'm home for Christmas, though. First thing the guy at the Hiroshima cycle place asked me when I asked him if I could test ride (Nori-masu ka?) was "Byoo twelb?" (Buell Twelve?) Hell, yes! Bryan |

...yup, June 28th, 2002. I think it took a week for me to put the first 500 miles on it. Break-in period...more like sub 3500 rpm HELL! 5K by August is doable. I only average 200 miles a month on from December to February though. I would like to try and IronButt 1000 this summer. That'll rack up the miles! |

Well, I went on the Northeast Tour last summer, so that right there piled about 3000 miles on mine. What a GREAT ride that was. When I'm finally back in the States for good I'm taking a week or two off work to go back down to Ohio, West Virginia, and North Carolina to recreate the first part of it and hit Deal's Gap again. Heehee! |

I went the long way from Denver to South Carolina in July 03. 3700 miles, about 6 days of ass time on the Sportster. I skipped Deal's Gap (hey, I was on a HD), but I did hit part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beautiful! Longest trip on the 'Bolt has been under 800 miles. Not quite as comfy as the HD. If I do the IronButt, I'll take the Buell. Bigger gas tank, and better mileage. |

Xb9rski : Temps in the 50's around here thin out the biking crowd considerably. When it's in the 20's...well that separates the men from the boys. I've been snowed on with both bikes, but I try not to make it a habit of riding in freezing precipitation. |

When I started riding again in Dec 2001, I was living in Lake Elsinore, Ca. When Feb 2002 hit I had just started commuting to work and the Temp was 28 degrees at 5am. It's hard to believe that California gets that cold but it also snowed in quite a few places that it normally don't that year. The coldest that it has been so far during my daily journey this year has been 34 degrees. My wife gets mad at me because I won't take the car to work. She just doesn't understand yet. |

Don’t feel alone, I get the same crap from my wife too. Any time it rains, take the train, drive, anything but the bike! I don’t think they will ever understand.

19051....Need to replace my front tire. The Dunlop 207 didn't last as long as the first one did (10k+), could have something to do with getting closer to scraping the pegs through the canyon?? |

Last week I took the bike to my dealership to get my front brakes done. When I got it back it went from 16,100 to 2888 miles WTF?? I havent taken it in but its working fine and its showing 3194 miles now. Maybe this is a sign telling me I should trade it in? Nah,... but I wonder how they are going to fix it. edited by viros on December 18, 2003 |

Are you sure you're not looking at one of the trip meters instead of the ODO? The only way that could happen, I thought, was if they replaced the entire instrument cluster (or gave you the wrong bike!)... |

I also couldnt believe it, but im positive its not one of the trip meters. Also I remember from my cross country adventure the trip only goes to 999 then resets automatically. edited by viros on December 18, 2003 |

Ahh, yes, that's right. Well, like I said, the only way they could have done that was to take someone else's cluster and put it on your bike...I sincerely doubt there is any way to reset the ODO - that's a violation of many regulations. ...are you SURE front brakes are all they did? Maybe if they removed the front suspension for some reason (thus facilitating a need to remove the front fairing mount, cluster, etc), they got it mixed up with someone else's XB? |

All they did was my front pads... nothing else looks tampered with, It looks like I might be one of the first with a faulty odometer |

Hey, what dealer did you use, in about 1 year I want them to roll mine back too. I should have about 28K on it by then. Maybe you would just want to swap clusters. |

Well, I am late on posting but I have about 11,440 since Dec 24 02'. Until recently I lived in Gunnison Colorado which is one of the coldest places in Colorado so not bad. I am now living in Phoenix and racking up the miles, should be up there soon. Morgan |

I need to drop off a few things for that dealership to work on. I wonder if they'll do the front brakes on my truck |

Took her to the dealership yesterday, They said speed sensor is bad and have to order one. With as common as this problem seams to be from reading on here, don't you think the dealers would stock those parts. I guess that's what happens when you're still an outcast to some. |

Make sure you get the NEW ONE! Be 100% absolutely positive that they give you the new, regulated speedo sensor. Otherwise you'll just blow another one. Reepicheep (I think) posted the new number somewhere on BadWeb recently - do a search for it. |

Did anyone find out the cause of the resetting clock? my 03 '9r shuts off for half a second when I hit the starter and then the clock resets. Sometimes it won't start right away when it does this. This is a new problem, maybe started two weeks ago with 9000 ish miles |

The clock also resets if you pull out the battery fuse...just wondering if your battery voltage is getting too low when you hit the starter button, that would also explain "sometimes it won't start right away when it does this". Maybe your battery is on the way out or you have some corrosion on some electrical connections. Hope this helps. |
