So i've had an idea for a new muffler rolling around in my head. I was having a hell of a time finding parts I needed. Well I finally found a supplier for the parts I needed to make it a reality. I just finished it today. It just needs a coat of paint before I install it. In theory it should make good power with a strong midrange. I should be able to get it on the bike this week and give a test run. I'll be sure to take a video like the previous mufflers. If it works out like expected i'll most likely post a how to. If it doesn't work out then it will end up in my collection of mufflers. Jim G. |

Very cool. I was just thinking of having a pipe welded up for the blast that I think has the same overall idea as yours. Can't wait to hear your report. What do they say? Long skinny pipes for torque and short fat ones for HP. |

Like the others I am curious what you have done on the inside? When I saw your pipe this is the first thing that came to mind: http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_ info&cPath=1&products_id=3 Bart |

New: The muffler tie down point. But I do love the way it looks! |

LOL. It's not an O-pipe. Kalecoauto ROCKS! The exterior elbow on the end is completely functional and adds to the primary length. |

More flow and louder would be my guess as the resonance area at the end of the standard pipe has been removed. Looks very well done! |

So, is it just a long curled pipe? |

I just don't understand how exhaust works. any good reads on the subject? I used to think you wanted as little back pressure as possable, but I know that's wrong. |

BTW I may not know much about it. But that pipes looks pretty sweet to me! |

Looks similar to the Reverso idea from HP/Free spirits. Pretty good principles. Except this looks to be a 'double reverso' making it maybe twice as cool. |

thats a very cool looking design about how many hours did u put into that exhaust? |

The trick was sourcing the "U" piece I'll bet. It looks much better without a weld in the middle. Nice, clean looking fab work too. How soon before we get a dyno report or even a seat of the pants run? It looks cool! Different in every sense. |

it looks sweet! so you cut out the rear chamber and put on the U-shaped pipe making a tubed path? a little confused , does anyone have a diagram of the exhaust path through the muffler? |

So is it basically the same layout as the stock exhaust inside except for using the mandrel bend in the back instead of the resonance chamber? Did you do the same thing in the front? I've been thinking of doing something similar. |

Here is another link that is good info, but is more about header design than complete exhaust's. http://www.ssheaders.com/header.htm Headers By Ed also has some good info. |

Ok. I managed to get the muffler on tonight and change the oil&filter in under 30 minutes. It was completely dark outside by the time I finished. So I had to take a video of it inside the garage. The sound has a bit of an echo to it due to being inside the garage. It's actually a bit quieter than I thought it would be. I like it. It's just loud enough. Or maybe i'm just to old. LOL. I just hope it performs good enough. Hopefully it doesn't get to cold tonight. That way I can ride it into work in the morning, and give it a good shake down on the way home. I'm thinking it might look better painted with high heat silver or aluminum. Here is a clue to the internals. Imagine if a Reverso Corsa and an XBRR muffler had a love child. This would be that love child. Here is the crappy vid and some installed pics. Jim G. |

Can you let us know if you get less tyre wear? All of the modded/non standard pipes are not as close to the rear tyre and I am thinking the heat of it may accellerate the wear. |

Good question. This one could easily be made with a 90 degree outlet. That way it would get the hot exhaust gasses out past the tire completely. Just have to watch how long to make it. So it doesn't hit when dragging knee in a left hand turn. |

I'd like to make my own pipe as well (not like the one I made in high school shop class ) and am curious about your internals. specifically pipe diameters/lengths. The previous owner of my bike gutted the original muffler. So I've got nothing to base any calculations on now... |

If you would like to make your own pipe. Here is a good start.http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/398070.html?1222186327 Just remember to have fun making it. Being able to tell some one "yeah I made that" when they ask you is a great feeling. |
