no. The clutch and primary share lube with the transmission. |

How cool would it be to have an open primary on an XB |

Why your XB doesn't make enough racket for you? |

The XB fans when they start to die sound like a blender full of rocks, not unlike the dry clutch. Swap your good fan with someone's dying fan! |

I've been told about a primary cage with dry plate conversion that a friend found on the net in a site from the UK or Europe. He came across it while searching for a secondary belt to chain conversion kit. So it may be worth a google. A dry clutch could be noisy when disengaged. It would also need a system for primary chain lubrication. |

James, it's a Free Spirits set up. Tim's right, that's a picture of Matt's Uly racer, I believe it was about three years ago. Your best bet is to get in touch with Matt, he goes by Trojan here on the board. He's a sponsor, so you can get in touch with him in the sponsor section. I checked the Free Spirits website, and Matt's site as well. http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/ I don't think it's offered any longer, but if it can still be had, Matt will be the guy to have it for you. Good luck, and I hope you're prepared to spend some money. |

You will def. have to change the plates. You will also have to weld your cases shut at the tranny. |

I believe that's part of the large cost of such a set up. Matt did it because he get obsessive about weight loss. He can get a Buell absolutely anorexic. |

"The XB fans when they start to die sound like a blender full of rocks, not unlike the dry clutch. Swap your good fan with someone's dying fan!" Yup! I've got a rumbly one right now I'll trade ya! (my 2nd one in 3 years, no less! ) I think I'm just gonna' rig up a 6 pack of little PC case fans as a replacement. Dirt cheap, low draw, decent CFM (for the size), and less noisy! ~SM} (Message edited by Swordsman on November 03, 2008) |

No clutch plate debris in the gearbox as they share the same oil. Also a little lighter as it uses a belt, there is no primary cover and a little less oil. |
