It can be rebuilt by someone that does that sort of thing, like the guys at traction dynamics. If you do ride it, it'll be a little loose in the rear. May do damage, may not. |

Ha Ha Funny!!! I just realized what I posted in the subject line............. Anyway, ebay does have some stock shocks but unless I can get the miles on them I dont want to go to all the trouble of changing it to have to change it again 6 months later (I put alot of miles on bike daily) I would much rather just rebuild the one I have if it is possible. |

What do you mean by a lot? I had well over 45thousand miles before I replaced mine. |

As the Glitchster has observed, the shocks can be rebuilt by the usual suspects. eBay replacement is probably cheaper than doing a simple repair. Or........ one can take advantage of the situation by upgrading one's rear suspension, in one of two ways. 1. Upgrade the rear shock to a race quality unit like Penske, Ohlins etc. 2. Rebuild the shock to competition specs, and add a heavier spring. Computrack ,Traxxion Dynamics and other motorcycle suspension specialists offer this service. Of course once you do that, you naturally might think of rebuilding the front forks as well, revalving and re-springing, changing the oil. No one likes to spend money unnecessarily any more than I do, but many riders of my acquaintance on and off this board believe the money invested in suspension upgrades are more important than any other improvement. And I could not possibly agree more.

Darlene, NY to Georgia isn't far by UPS. Call Dan or Max at Traxxion. Believe me, they DO understand the Buells. If it can be rebuilt, they can do it... but brace yourself. You'll be TOLD to use it for a doorstop to hold the door open as you carry your new Penske or Elka shock in from the car! (seriously, it's worth emailing or calling them) I live in CA and have dealt with them for 5 years now and 3 motorcycles - and PAID RETAIL. |

Anyway, I just bought a used rear shock from a fellow BWB. Its from an 2007 xb9SX with low miles so I should be OK for a few more years. Now I just hope its an easy install with no fitting issues since mine is an 03 xb9r (Message edited by buelltilicious on October 30, 2008) |

I sold my XB9R rear shock for $100 on ebay, with 7000 miles on it. Hope that helps, |

The XB shocks are a popular upgrade for the SV650. If it's rebuildable, you may be able to get more money for it by selling it to an SV'er. |
