Ive got an scg and had some cheap "fits all" handguards left over from my last bike and they dont work all that great. Will the factory uly guards from american sportbike fit the scg bars? Do they deflect the wind pretty well? |

I bet if you ask the guy (forgot his name) from asb He'd know. They've been good at answering my questions. |

Yea, I figured(cant remember his handle) I could e-mail him but kind of wanted to see what people that had them thought about how they performed. I bought my bike kind of late in the year and am not quite ready to put it up yet. |

"Will the factory uly guards from american sportbike fit the scg bars?" Yes. I have them on my '03 XB9S. "Do they deflect the wind pretty well?" No. Not for me at least. They mount to the clamps for the controls, so they have to be in line with the levers. Problem for me is that I am comfortable with my levers angled down a bit- putting the deflectors down too far. I'll be putting about 1500 miles on it in the next week....ask me what I think after that! |

They will make a big difference. Get polly heaters also, another $30 that goes a LONG way. I'll be happy to help put them in if you would like help... |

Buell makes it in a nice kit now http://www.buell.com/en_us/gear/accessories/produc t.asp?Menu_ID=2&ProductLineID=3&CategoryID=6&Produ ctID=4266 Back when I got them I had to get each piece individually, and after like 3 trips to the dealer because I missed a stupid nut. |

They fit fine on my Scg. I enlarged the hole on the end a bit so they work with my CRG bar end mirrors. They still work perfect though. Picture from Buell's site, wind deflectors on an XB-SX: Wind protection is better than nothing... but not great. Many use the touratech spoilers, which are supposed to help out greatly: http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/show.lasso?sku=3 80-0050&-session=touratech:4B7686D2191fc31723JgR41 8EFA1 |

I have them on my Scg, and they really help keep my fingers out of the wind. The back of my hand gets a little wind, but good gloves help. |

Mmmmmmm... I bought Uly guards for my Ss JUST for the wind protection. After about two months, I took them off and sold them. And I live in GA... it doesn't even get that cold down here. Worthless for anything other than flying gravel. (JMHO) EDIT: I just noticed those "spoilers" in the above post. I bet those would help out. The stock guards have a very low profile, barely enough to cover your knuckles, so there's not much wind protection. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on October 30, 2008) |
