I have been kicking around the idea of Heli-Bars. Any time I consider a purchase of any kind I look at the positive side and negative. I have not been able to find any negative feedback on this one. So are there any drawbacks?? From what I have read no one can tell a difference in handling. I just don't understand how it could not effect handling performance in some noticeable way. Any input (negative please )?} |

I absolutely HATE them for the track, but that is just my opinion. Your results may vary. P.S. I will be putting stock bars back on for the track bike. |

Great just what I wanted (I know that must sound screwey). What about them did you not like on the track? BTW thank you, Bart |

The polished aluminum finish can reflect sunlight at certain angles, thus can be a distraction while riding. That's about the only negative I've found. Of course, if the gleaming, polished look turns you on like it does me, then it's a positive thing. But then, they have a painted set, don't they? For my type of general & commuting riding, the Helis enhance comfort more so than the stockers. Never ridden it on the track, so no help there. |

No disadvantages here. Both track days on my Buell have been with them. I'm only 5'6" so my arms are a bit shorter than most I'd imagine though. Wouldn't think of going back. |

I love mine.I'm about 5'10 190lbs and I have no pressure any where compared to the stock bars. As for handling I do notice it takes more effort to tuck in and the front will lift a lot easier under accel than before, but not so much that you can't compensate or that I consider it dangerous.I purchased them from Al at American sport bike, which I highly recommend, about 5-6 months ago and they are not polished. I wanted black but they don't make them anymore. |

Speedfreak, To me, riding with Heli-bars on a track is like having ape hangers on the bike. Here is my problem with Heli-bars on the track bike.... At the end of the front stretch, I roll off the gas and get hard on the front brake to get set up for the turn... due to the angle the heli-bars cause my wrist to be at, I sometimes find as I let off the brake (sometimes while leaned over, trail braking), I have inadvertantly rolled on the throttle and get a little lurch until I realize I have rolled on the throttle.... |

Heli has discontinued them. I have two sets of black ones in stock, and the last 10 that they're making of the natural aluminum, on the way. When they're gone, there will be no more. Al (Message edited by al_lighton on October 16, 2008) |

Im a commuter and love them. Lowering pegs, corbin seat and helibars will completely transform your XB. Your wrists will thank you. |

Like mine too! One of the must have mods for making the bike a comfortable commuter or sport touring bike. Al, and news as to why Heli are discontinuing the product? |

"Al, and news as to why Heli are discontinuing the product?" I would like to know this as well. Are they replacing it with something better? |

I just fitted some Helibars I bought off Badweb and I love em, they fixed the pain in my neck that I got from the standard R bar position. I'm 6'1" and added S pegs as well and I find my XB9R comfortable for long distances now. |

I think it was just very low sales volume. They told me that a high percentage of their sales were through us, so they weren't moving a ton of them. I know if I had a Firebolt, it'd have them on it unless it was a track bike. |

I have them on my two street bolts and am glad I do. My track bolt uses stock trees. My son hates the Heli's on the track but I don't seem to mind them. |

WOOT one more reason to love my Bike. Glad I got a set. I'm 5'5" and the stock position for the bars was a bit of a reach. The Heli bars are perfect. |
