I've searched the archives high and low but to no avail so here goes. What is the fuel pressure out of a stock Buell X1 EFI fuel pump from say the years 1999-2000? Out of the pump before the regulator. Regards PiPPi | ||

Quick search of the archives says 49-50psi (search for fuel and psi) here's one What do you mean before the regulator? It's all one unit. | ||

Yes, there is no "regulator" per se. There is, but it is built in to the pump. With such a short path between the pump and the injector, fuel pressure remains fairly constant in the fuel rail (I'm using car terms here, please forgive me) so a regulator at the end of the rail would just complicate things. It would also require a fuel return line to the tank. Laters... | ||

Many thanks for the info, 'preciate it. I'm building an EFI for an older Evo powered FXR and am one of the bidders on the Buell pump that Josh linked to above here and wanted a sanity check. On the regulator being one with the pump (I did not know that) and inside the tank: I assume that means that the fuel pressure is not adjustable in any way? Not a big deal as long as the pressure stays constant at the level mentioned up here. Anything else that I should keep in mind on what the pump/regulator being one unit brings to the equation? It's keeps it simple, but means you can't change it. As long as you need 50psi you're set. so I shouldn't have posted the link for all to see? |
