I just need the top right? the bottoms are the same between the 2005 xb9 and 2007 xb12? Why the xb12? Is the 2007 xb9 inner airbox not the same as the 12? I'm sure this has been answered elsewhere, but I need an answer fast, thanks! |

Well American Sport Bike only sells the top and says it works on the 03-08 xb9, so i'll just assume they all snap on the same. |

Should be the same. The difference between the 9 and 12 is the 12 has the mounting location for the exhaust servo on top of the airbox- so there's a lowered spot of sorts on the top. Inside of the airbox underneath this lowered spot there is a cone shape protuberance that in theory cause better airflow and therefore air/fuel mixture. |

his 05 has the cone, but 07 and up has air holes in the sides Moosestang why not cut the holes urself? |

Moosestang why not cut the holes urself? Mine was cut when I bought it. Problem is that it's cut up so much that it's not sealing around the top and bottom of the filter. |

you just need the top, its a simple swap out. I did the same on my 05 xb9. Fits perfect and works/looks great with the translucid plastics. Then sell your original one to someone looking to cut one up to recoup some of your money. |

I think the only reason someone would want mine is if they were going to make an air box eliminator kit. I don't have a translucent air box, i painted it. I may have one of the newer ones if I can't fix the cracked front bolt holes on mine! |

well, you might as well eliminate it then...and reroute the breather to someplace where it doesn't spooge back into the intake. |

check the kv for breather tips, i used a catch can from lowes, built out of an air compressor part. idea stolen from ustourque

well, you might as well eliminate it then...and reroute the breather to someplace where it doesn't spooge back into the intake. Is there really that much oil being spooged into the intake? I haven't noticed any myself and it's not like the breather hoses are attached to the vacuum side of the intake manifold. I'm all to familiar with how much oil can be pulled through a breather hose when it's attached to the vacuum side of the intake manifold(after the throttle body). I get this much from my 06 mustang after only a 1,000 miles and that's pretty easy driving. that's a 15 oz butter bowl with a raised center. I put a catch can on my car to keep the oil from coating my intercooler under the supercharger, plus i'm told it can lower the octane of the A/F mixture if enough enters the combustion chamber. How much oil really comes out of the breather hoses and what makes it come out when there's no vacuum to pull it out? I'm assuming you all are moving the hoses down lower to attach to a catch can? Just doing that will cause more oil to exit through the breathers, no? |

there's enough oil squirting around in there that drips down the venturi right into the intake. i dont think moving the hoses causes any more to squirt out honestly, but you'll probably find no shortage of ppl to tell you i'm wrong. i'd say i get about 1oz in my catch can every 500 miles or so of good hard riding. fwiw. |
