So after realizing how much nigh riding i do i do not like the stock lights. I do not want to spend $100+ on the HID set up. Does anyone know of a Bulb replacement that illuminates the road just as good? |

There's a post right now in the Big Bad and Dirty thread about HID lights that are on sale. It's VVME.com I believe. TONS of info in the post about install and longetivity. DO IT! |

If you can find HID for 100 bucks, I would do it. Every kit I have seen you are into that for just the Ballasts. You could go to wally world and get the 29.95 Blazer aux light kit

I'm assuming single, which would make them about twice as much as others I believe. Also, did you get the slim ballasts? Would you recommend getting those for ease of install? Has anyone done a dual low and dual high beam HID on their Lightning? I assume it would just be a matter of getting a different bulb setup that is dual element... |

andy, i think your right about the lightning set-up but you would also need two high beam housings, and a bi-xenon kit. i don't think there is enough room behing the lightning headlights for the bulbs. |

Saw this one on the Big, Bad, dirty post on HID. http://www.vvme.com/product/detail-20023.html $40 for both lights is the best i have seen. And all the post about it say it is good. One guy said he has had his for 5k miles and no problems. |

Ripdog: i saw that too...keep in mind, those ballasts are kinda big. i have the DDM in the girl's lightning right now, and i am going to mount the large ballasts that i have in the tail section of my firebolt that is the size difference. and oyu can get those for $90 for 2 ballasts, bulbs and a harness (Message edited by Brandontrek on September 17, 2008) |

Just watch out with the high-voltage wires going through the whole bike from the rear to the front, 20 000 volts is enough to all of your electronics and your nuts, I'd install a set of slim ballasts and call it a day, save the big ones for your car (Message edited by miko_k on September 17, 2008) |

No pics, plug the wires in put the two ballasts together (thickness is less than pack of smokes) and sit em in there. |

Not a Lightning, but confirmation nonetheless that you can stash the slim ballast behind the Firebolt fairing:

I put the HID light in my XB's high beam. I used the 4300 temperature light. I'll have to relocate the horn to fit the second ballast in so I can run the HID in the low beam too. Piece of cake install. Total cost for the (2) HID setup complete was less than $75 and maybe 30 minutes of work. Some say you need a extra relay. Both my EE's say not needed if all the connections are solid.
