So other than the fitment issue with the select seat, what do you guys think of it. Right now I have the low profile seat on my cityx, which I actually don't mind to much riding around town. I believe it would get uncomfortable quickly on a long ride though. Also I was thinking of getting the Americansportbike's carbon fiber extended flyscreen. Any experience with that? I want to get a Ulysses X but can not afford to get one until I sell my Jeep which is proving very hard to do with the economy and gas prices. So I think for the time being I will try to make my bike more comfortable for longer rides. Although I won't be bringing my girlfriend with me on the cityx. Can't stand riding someone on the back of a sportbike. | ||

The select seat is great, if you dont ever ride in the rain, ride through puddles, stream cross, get caught in the rain. That V will duct water right down your keister with a swiftness. There should be an enema warning on the thing. But if you like that sort of thing, then it is your best bet. | ||

I was thinking about the Select seat right before buying my used XB9S. The reason was based on my experience with the Blast seat which was bruising my coccyx(no, I'm not slurring my speech). Cityxslicker warned me as above so I delayed ordering one and tried the low seat that came with the bike. Oddly enough the low seat is more comfortable than the Blast seat and the coccyx is never offended. Overall, I can ride comfortably on it for most of the day. I don't know if the Select seat would yield any longer riding comfort than that. | ||

I was almost wondering the same thing. I'm looking for a long distance seat and was wondering if the Select seat is better than the stock seat? (2006 CityX) I put the low seat on it and my ass hurts after about 30 miles. | ||

I took my stock seat to a local guy that put some gel and padding in it for $125. I will do 500 mile days on pavement, and 200-250 on dirt on that seat. Custom seats if you bring in the pan arent that much more than ordering stock seats and seeing which one fits the best . | ||

I Got the select Seat in early August for an across the US trip. At first It seemed hard, but I love the way it feels now- took some break in. Also, it makes the riding position on the cityx much more natural feeling, holds you in place on acceleration, and is sleeker looking than the skyline seat. Also, I used to get sore pockets on my keaster with the padding in the skyline. The gel completly eliminated it. Worth the asking price. Oh, and I have Zero fitment isssues, it fits 100 times tighter/smoother/cleaner/better than the stocker -Jeff | ||

I have the Select Seat and love it. Zero fitment issues (not sure what you're talking about here actually. In fact, it uses the same seat pan as all the other seats, so I'm not sure how there could be fitment issues). I swapped seats with my brothers '08 CityX stock seat for a day last Friday and here's my observations: 1) Select seat is cooler- I think this may be due to a firmer surface, the material used as well as the gel insert. Either way, my ass was sweaty after 100 miles on the '08 stocker, NEVER have those issues with the Select. 2) Select seat is lower. There's pros and cons to this, but I like the lower better overall. 3) Select seat is more firm. Seems like a negative, but it is SO much more comfortable. I do 200 mile days regularly on the Select, and it's great. No way would I trade it for a stocker. Also, ditto on everything Jeff said above (except the fitment thing, again I can not see how it would fit any different!). | ||

Oh, and I have no riding experience with the extended flyscreens, but my dealer has the Zero Gravity ones on hand and I looked at it and held it up to my bike. I have a couple of 1000 mile rides coming up that I want one for, and in spite of my next comments, I will be buying one. It looks absolutely hideous. Seriously. The extra height stretches it out so much that the flyscreen no longer looks properly proportioned- it's just long and skinny. No way would I ride around every day with one, but I will buy one for the long trips. Does the select seat have any warranty? Any problem with staples popping out like the stocker? | ||

No idea on warranty. I have 5xxx miles on mine and it looks new still- no problems. I take very good care of my stuff however, and I don't beat on it. I would think that with the firmer padding and stiffer outside material, it would be much more resistant to staple-pulling-out. | ||

The select seat definitely helps with the long rides. Went from 100 or so miles to 200 or so before having to get off and let the bum rest. Its a little hard at first but once your on it you forget about it. The only negative to the seat is if you live in a area that gets hot like I do. The gel in the seat retains the heat from the engine which really warms up the bum, great for winter time but really sucks during the summer. Was thinking about putting some of that heat deflecting material on the bottom of the seat. | ||

I have seen the zero gravity extended screen, and I too think it is ugly, thats why I wanted to go with Americansportbike's carbon fiber screen. It is 2" wider as well as taller so it doesn't look so bad. | ||

Propower I used to wear cycling shorts everytime i rode, when i used to ride strictly offroad. They definetely help but are not a long term solution | ||

Sneth, you can use the classifieds here to see if anyone is selling one, also you can call one of the board sponsoring dealers. Appleton HD (Wisconsin not Tennessee!), Liberty HD, Danbury HD all are great and can ship a seat to you. The first 2 offer a discount for badwebbers. | ||

Make sure you read the cautions on the Zero Gravity, specifically not to park tail pointing to the sunset. Weird but true, they say, it'll melt your dash. | ||

This weekend I tried wearing swimming trunks under my jeans, under my tourmaster caliber pants and WOW! It had to be the swimming trunks, that's the only thing I changed from other long rides, but for the first time I was stopping only because the bike needed gas, not because my butt hurt  Only rode 300~ miles, but felt great the entire trip! I've always heard good things about cycling shorts, but never tried them. | ||
