I am doing a xb front end swap onto my 98 S1W and have just about everything needed except for the triple trees. I want to run a Lightning top triple. I have a friend with he firebolt lower triple. So the question I have is this. Are the lightning and firebolt triples the same height? Spacing? and distance from center bolt to fork tubes? Are they interchangeable? |

Believe the triple clamp lowers are identical for Lightning and Firebolts, as long as Showa fork tube diameter is accounted for (41 versus 43mm). I have two front ends: a Lightning triple top, a Firebolt top, a 41mm triple lower and corresponding forks, and a 43mm set. I have mixed and matched these in all combinations on the bike with no issues. This is possible because that fork tubes have identical clamp diameter in the triple top. |

XBSs & XBST have different triple clamp from what I understand. Might work as a set, but it will change the steering angle if used on XBS or XBR. Don't mix them up. |
