Tried to search, but could not find a thread with that particular problem...

Last night I wanted to give the bike a quick wash when I noticed a little puddle of oil on the ground right below the nose of the bellypan (front of the muffler)... so I look around and find that oil is leaking from the clutch cable, where it enters the gear box... I noticed that it is not the fitting itself that is leaking, but the cable itself, right where the cable and fitting meet... the oil runs from that spot down the cable and onto the bellypan... then slowly finds its way down the bellypan to the tip of it and drops to the floor...

Any advice? the bike is 3 weeks old (09 XB12Scg)... is this common? should I just take it to the dealership?

Also, the bike has about 1100 miles on it, and I've already done the 1000mile maintenance myself... just changed engine and tranny oil, and did not touch that clutch cable at all. I figure I`ll tell the dealership I haven`t gotten around to having them do the 1st service because I am afraid they`ll waive the warranty if I tell them I did it myself...

What do you guys think?

Thanks : )

Take it to the dealership and have them fix it. Doing you own 1K service will NOT void your warranty. If they try and pull that "Void Warranty" shit, just call Buell Customer Service.

Nice -- you have one of those new HeroDarks, how do you like it (other than that silly leak, of course)?

I just had a seeping leak taken care of at Legend HD/Buell (Your Service dpt. rocks Cityxslicker!) -- it was a gasket issue on the same side and it took them 2 hours or so -- it shouldn't take them any more to do a clutch cable (they thought it might be a clutch cable or even an internal gasket on mine originally but it turned out not to be). All of this was warranty work, the first work I have had done since my switch to this dealership and they didn't ask me any questions or anything -- they just checked the VIN to make sure it still carried a warranty and took it in. If your dealership gives you any kind of hard time, get the name of the service supervisor and call Buell Customer Service from your cell phone and ask them to sort things out. Hope you get it all taken care of. Oh, and make sure they have the replacement cable IN STOCK before you come in so they can do the fix. BTW, any Buell dealer can do this fix, not just the one you bought it from.

Cheers!

Sweet, thanks Retrittion!

I`ll go to the one down my house then (I bought it from another one further away).

Thanks again... I`ll update this thread after they confirm what the problem was.

np, good luck. Oh, and I forgot to mention it (my bad) but you can always check the sponsors page here to see if any of them are in your area -- and as a bonus some sponsors give discounts to Badwebers as well.

We really should have a welcome letter for new members -- maybe a FAQ to get them started (the basics of using the search function, links to frequently requested threads, etc.).

Cheers!
