I was 100 miles from home and the tranny started making a "bad bearing" noise and I could feel something non kosher. Anyway, limped it home got about 1/2 mile home it it went to hell, Spedo quit lots of bad noises, I shut it down coasted it to a stop and pushed her home. Upon examination I find the bearings gone at the front belt pully, I have oil all over the belt and tire, I pulled the speed sensor and the gear moved enough to hit that. So my question is, has anyone done this at home, do I need to split the case to put bearings in? I don't wanna take it to the stealer. Any insight would be great. Now I'm bikeless. CRAP!! |

First things first if you don't have a service manual. Now would be the perfect time to buy one. Splitting the cases can be done at home no problem, just need the proper tools. I've never done it so best thing I could tell you to do is get that manual. |

Sorry, it's a complete tear down to get to those bearings. You might be able to find the manual online but you'll probably want one handy while you're doing the job. |
