Hey everyone, I have an 07 CityX and have an off idle spit/sputter(similar to what the 1125r had when it first came out). Once in a great while it will kill it self out. Or if I blip the throttle when slowing/downshifting it will have that spit/sputter/miss what ever you wanna call it. I know I have seen it on here somewhere that it can be fixed. Just cant find it.
I am right about at 9000 miles and have had the problem for quite a while just delt with it.
Anyone have a link to a fix or know what could be done?
Thank You!
Ben Wellens

Anyone have anything? Besides a tps reset?

Just make sure your plugs and wires are good and if you really want to go nuts get the engine tubes into a catch can but the TPS should be enough

My bike was doing the same thing. I took it to the dealer and it was my exhaust acuator. I could see the wire under the air box was moving like a snake instead of straight when I revved from idle.

I'm going to switch out the spark plugs (recommended at 10,000 miles anyway) and do a tps reset. Hopefully that settles it.
Thanks for your input

I had to tighten primary to get rid of the spit a froth at lower rpm's and lower rpm steady throttle hold. Going to replace spark plug cables. While I had the engine rotated saw how the wiring harness was rubbing on the front plug cable.
So u may want to check both.

Use the Buell Pro spark plugs.
New stock plugs will not do anything.

and Get the breather tubes out of there...

Do you have ecmspy?

For a good smooth idle do this:

Take the average of two squares at a time instead of all 4 like the previous square Idle method.

1. Average 15/800 and 15/1000 and replace those two squares with that number.
2. Average 10/800 and 10/1000 then replace those two squares with that value.

Now you want CL idle enabled. You want the ego corr to hover around 100. to do this you need to adjust all 4 suares on the front and rear map by the same amount.

With the engine warm and the bike idling in CL you want to watch the ego corr. If it's at ~90 then substract a point or two. If it's at ~110 then add a pt or two.

On my xb12 my front map was:
73 73
68 68

and the rear:
62 62
60 60

I have an o2 sensor on the front pipe so I was able to do each cycliner individually to get the ego corr right at 100.

The reason I think this makes sense is when you watch the maps in ecmspy while the bike is idling. The tps stays constant while the rpm wiggles left and right around 1k.

After doing this I have never had a cough or hesitation from take off.

Awesome! Thanks for the help, Ill be switching out the plugs and resetting the tps this weekend, and hopefully can find some time to try some of your tips with the mapping.
Thanks again
