The '09's sure are purty but I'd definitely buy used if I had it to do over again. Of course you'll want to do your research....and it looks like you came to the right place! G |

Soon you'll be buying your 2nd and 3rd. These Buells really are worse than Sweet Lady "H". They are great bikes and I haven't had a "real" problem with any of mine. Welcome. |

I've got an 08 Firebolt and an 04 Firebolt. On the 08 the clutch cable wire form failed (twice) but there is a warranty replacement available, the off idle stumble is not noticable as I usually launch around 2000 RPM, the MPGs are down and there is a slight flat spot between 3,000-4,000 RPM (a quick down shift cures that).... That being said, I still have a LOT of FUN on this bike!!! I haven't ridden the 04 much as it has been prepped for the track, but it seems to run pretty good. |

Paint_shaker: What do you mean by "wire form"? I picked up an 08 XBR yesterday and I just want to know about any issues that might occur. |

There is a wire form that holds the clutch cable away from the exhaust header. Buell has upgraded this item. Not sure if they come standard on new bikes. |

Jwhouse, always great to have a new member of the family. '07 12R here -- almost 9K miles and love it. Bought it new, don't really regret that, except the part where I had to deal with the arses who run the HD dealership. I also like having a warranty but honestly I know I will have a hard time not busting it in the next couple years -- so something to think about there. Knowing what I know now I would do a couple things different -- not worrying so much about modding anything out of the gate but putting on some Dark Horse Moto sliders (front/back/bar-end), CRG (or similar) levers, Lyndal Gold brake pads, and a Heli upper triple-tree clamp right away would have been first on my to-do list. Also, I would have looked for a bike here on Badweb or Craigslist -- Knowing what I know now I think a used XB would be just fine and it would save some significant cash (which you could then spend the first winter on fun mods). As far as years, the first generation belt was sketchy but an upgraded belt kit covers that issue, so otherwise it is all about what color you would like and finding someone who has taken care of their bike. Cheers and good luck -- and post picks when you find your new ride! |
