Trying to get some input on what the best direct replacement to the stock headlamps is? Not looking to go HID quite yet, just want to replace the bulbs to get close as I can to a HID or Xenon look.

The replacement program is up and running called PGM501 for the headlights if you have not already had it done.

Go to your local dealer and see if your bike is one of the affected by night blindness to get new ones fitted free.

After that you really should think about the HID setup as I have it on my 07 Bolt and there is nothing that comes close to the light output for $150.

dont do it. the brighter the halogen bulb, the hotter. and hot bulbs cause major issues. just go strait for the HID if you want something brigher

Yea, either stick with the stock halogen or go HID. You'll just increase the risk of your reflector housing getting too hot and bursting into flames by running a brighter halogen.

A very good hid kit can be had for 119 shipped.

Where I got mine and they've worked every day since.

I put Silverstar bulbs in my Uly, and I have PIAA bulbs that were in my SS when i bought it. Both are great, much better than stock.

Do a search for PIAA bulbs on eBay; H7 for Lightning and I believe the Firebolt is H3. I just bought a set of H7's off of eBay.

Or go to there website...

Unfortunately for the standard reflectors it is the heat of even a standard bulb that causes them to degrade.

The updated replacements are yet to be proven as they are just out and for my money the HID are the ones to use.

Less power drain for three times the light and run a lot cooler than stock as well.

alright, so if I go HID....

what are the options out there, are any of the kits significantly better than the others... and are there any DIY tutorials out there for the install.

Now everyone knows that "you get what you pay for!"

That said, I almost pulled the trigger on these digital ultra slim ballast HID's last night.

At $80 for a pair, 100% feedback, and seller been around since 2004, it's hard to see how you can go too wrong?
