2007 Firebolt - Every once in awhile if I'm not firm with my shift from 4th to 5th I hit neutral??? Another shift up and I'm in 5th.

It's called a "false neutral", and I've experienced it on every bike I've owned at one time or another (American, Jap, and European). Just remember where they tend to happen, and make sure you use a firm shift at that spot.

I had it happen once a year ago, freaked me out, never happened again.

Mine does it all over the place. I think at one time or another I've managed to find a false neutral between every gear. It usually happens when I'm trying to shift too quickly, and don't get a full lift on the shifter. However, seems like once I hit the FN, it's a pain to get it back in gear! I usually have to pop the clutch a time or two before it'll finally jump back in place. This has been happening more and more often. Is there anything that could be adjusted that might help?

Primary chain? After adjusting mine, the bike shifts a whole lot smoother. Used to stick in neutral often between 1 and 2, no matter how hard I lifted the lever. Would hit some false neutrals in other gears as well. Doesnt do either anymore, except for the occasional neutral from 1 to 2 if I dont lift the lever enough. Also, how long has it been since a Primary Oil Change?

I was thinking the primary chain might be it. It's been awhile since it was adjusted.

I found that changing to a GP shift pattern cut my "false neutral" situation to zero.
