Weird. My bike has really been running well. But seems like no matter what I do, it runs like hammered poo if I get caught in the rain. Open loop mode simply will NOT deal with it... 30 miles in wet weather, and no change in the poo-iness. Surges and skips like it's a frikkin' mechanical bull. I've got the stock '06 airbox, so it shouldn't be sucking any water anywhere. Is anyone else having issues like this? Any idea what could cure it, if anything? ~SM |

change your plug wires cause it sounds like they are breaking down and its only a matter of time till they crap out a make sure the coil has a good ground |

I had the same problem, it was the plug wires. Get your plugs if they need it while your at it. |

Spray everything around your plugs, cables, caps with WD40. If that works, then you've got cracks that are deep enough to hold water and short you out. Basically, I'm agreeing with all the other posts, I just like to run a double check before I spend money. |

My plug wires are virtually brand new Magnecores, and they were greased before installation. (I say brand new, but it's been, oh, within the past 5 months?) ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on August 12, 2008) |

WHen this happened to my XB9S it was the spark plug wire rubbing on something and chaffed it. Ran like crap when it was wet out. |

Does the crappiness and bucking occur across the entire RPM spectrum or is it concentrated at a particular speed. If I hold the speed right at 3,000 RPM, the Uly will buck and spit like crazy. It doesn't occur at 2500RPM or at 4000. It's the point at which the bike begins "learning". |

Mine just hesitates a little from a cold start after a dowsing. I imagine that would go away if I got a cover |

Sword Did you have the problem before you put on the Magnecords? I might suggest trying a pair of Buell Sparkplug wires. The were upgraded a couple of years ago, and they are certainly up to the task, no real benefit from expensive wire in this application. Only cost you a few bucks to try them. The symptoms sound exactly like the ones my bike exhibited until I changed out the wires. |

Yeah, it's always done it... that was one of the reasons I bought the Magnecores to begin with. I think Ft_bstrd may be on to something. 3000 rpms seems to be where the bucking is the worst. But I would expect after 30 miles it would have "learned" everything it needs to to run correctly...? ~SM |
