I'm having a problem with my bike, and also with the dealers not wanting to help out with something else because of this problem. I had got something in the mail saying that the firebolts have a deteriating problem with the headlights, so thusly it will be a free repair because of a manufacture defect. So i take my bike to the dealer to get this headlight problem fixed. To then it was brought to my attention that my brake light is not working properly. It still works as a running light, BUT it will NOT get brighter if you use either of the brakes. Now MR DEALER see's that this is a 'saftey issus' and they will not work on my bike for the manufacture headlight defect, saying that they have to test ride the bike after the work done, and it will be a saftey issue for the workers test riding if the brake doesnt work. Complete b/s !!! If this is an easily fixable problem with the brake system, please let me know. |

Could it be as simple as a burnt out filament in your bulb, or maybe a loose connection at the back of the brake light under the seat? D |

i do pull a bunch of stoppies, so it gets slammed sometimes... but loose connection i dont think so because it is still ON in the first place. lol, have them fix it for $85/hour, im guessing it will be a quick fix but they will milk-it all they can to the penny (Message edited by ochoa0042 on July 29, 2008) |

Try changing the bulb yourself first. There are two separate filaments like Dogdaze said. That means there are also two separate "hot" leads to the light. The running light can work fine while the brake light fails to function. |

its a standard size bulb (1157 if I remember right), I have at least 70 of them in my work room (from all the LED lights I build) But i'm about 99% sure thats your cause!! -Robert www.xblights.com |

Well, probably not the same problem as me but I had a problem with my front brake lever not actuating my brake light intermittently -- now it is just not lighting it at all (rear brake still lights it so I'm not worried safety wise), but this is a warranty fix according to the dealer, so maybe ask if this applies to you as well. Plus ALWAYS get a quote up front so you know what you are getting into and you can call BS if they do try to milk it. my .02 |

dealer policy im sure. I know at my dealer its mandatory to do at least 1 mile test drive with ANY service/repair. |

Just a Q, but why would the need to test ride the bike to fix the head light??? that was the main thing that got me off, thank you, atleast someone saw that!!! most of you are right, its the light and the light only. i kicked it around and pushed the led lights inward and the circuit inside the bulb lit back up. So some of the lights are broke-ish. Easy small fix, buy a new brake light, i totally think the dealer would of ripped me on this one.... thx peeps but now there is problem.... "Battery Check" |

I had the same problem, easy fix. Just pull the bulb out and turn it around. Plug it so the opposite leads go in. Sounds to easy to be true but I bet that works! |
