Well, i'm pretty sure they are not. But i'm not 100% positive. I'm not even sure if they are "legal" anywhere, but I don't think its a big issue. Never heard of anyone getting a ticket due to that..... anyone else got any info...? Thanks -Robert www.xblights.com |

They are legal in Texas as motorcycles are not required to have turn signals here. We can default to good ol' hand signals (no, not those!). Keith |

I was looking to get an LED tail light from heavycycles.com. I want just brake/running lights, not integrated signals. Seems like most places only have the integrated lights. Can't get a response from heavycycles. Any ideas? |

Duh, just looked at xblights.com. I always heard good things about the heavycycles lights. Xblights.com have good brightness also (not like some cheap LEDs) and good visibility from other than straight behind? |

they are definitely LEGAL if you are not removing your OE signals. if you want to remove your signals and replace them with the integrated type, they are probably NOT legal. if you live in a state that does not require your bike to have ANY turn signals (like here in CO), then you can slide by on that technicality. i've never heard of anyone getting cited for integrated turn signals. |

Oh, yea I should have mentioned that. if you are running external signals as well, then you are good to go. but otherwise if its your only rear signals, it varies. Before you go buying, check out this thread i made a couple days ago...... the pics aren't great, but gives you an idea of the value of good LEDs! http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/171 43/379540.html?1217092909 now both used do not have integrated signals, they are just running and brake only, but you get the picture! also bhmax: my favorite lights do not have the signals built in. not trying to send you to the competition, but I think heavycycles can do just the running and brake if I recall correctly....... but naturally I say come see me at www.xblights.com, haha! -Robert |

Gotta remember that the strength of the LED is its focus and concentration. Of course, the main weakness is the focus and concentration. That's where dedicated builders come in. They have to design a light in such a way that it is bright and from all angles. It's also why, at this point, there is no front light technology. At best, the technology allows a very bright pencil beam. You need wider for night driving. |

...for motorcycles, perhaps, but LED headlamps are available on some high-end cars. It's slated as a post-release option for the vehicle I'm working on at the moment, as well. |

Cool, I stand corrected (actually I'm sitting but anyway...) googled them and they're available but pricey, didn't see any reviews but those cars wouldn't use them if they didn't work. Isn't tech great? |

I looked into LED headlights, but out of my league right now. technology is just too new and expensive....... -Robert www.xblights.com |

these aren't suitable for our applications, but check out the comparisons. the light output is astonishing... http://www.holderoffroad.com/Home.htm look forward to the future in these types of systems... like video games and cell phones, it's only going to get better and cheaper and more accessible. |

Love the new XBLights site design! Just thinking, but what about a LED "light band" around the chin of a 'bolt upper front faring? Say built onto a racing faring, and using a long, thin(ish) reflector design rather than trying to pack it all into a headlight housing. You could even do brights option that would add some that would add more side and higher angle coverage. I only ask cause I don't know how to make one myself but maybe the problem with LED headlights is they are still trying to use standard headlight housings rather than using an array -- kinda like those radar arrays on US Navy ships, AEGIS? I am sure since I don't know much about LEDs I am missing something though... Just thinking that sometimes the legacies of old tech can shoestring new tech. Cheers, Ret |

One of my slow moving projects involves a mini cooper HID projector. I plan on putting it in the low beam side of an elongated stock XB housing. |
