After selling my 2005 XB12s about a year ago, I recently started pondering another bike due to my commute costs going through the roof with today's gas prices. I commute about 100 miles a day, and it was adding up fast. I checked out all the Buell models at several HD dealers and finally settled on a new XB12STT. Yeah, I know - it's UGLY, but man does it ride GREAT!! I rode the 12S, 12SS, 12R and 12STT. I didn't care for the look of the STT at first, but it really kind of 'grew on me' until I finally decided I actually liked it the best of all the other models. It's different, and that's cool in my book! The main thing that sold me was the quality of the ride and handling. As I mentioned, I previously owned a 12S, and the difference between the S and the STT is truly night and day! The S was (in my opinion) a very rough bone-jarring ride, but handled well in the twisties. The STT with the longer suspension travel and longer wheelbase feels like a cadillac compared to my old S. It still handles extremely well in the corners, but also glides right over the potholes and bumps that would have caused a death grip on the bars with my old bike. The seat is way more comfortable as well. Appearance-wise, I removed the side plates from the back and I really like the look now. The front duck-bill fender is different, but I like it! It has major "attitude" in general. Anyway, I'm not posting to start a debate on which model is better, but I wanted to drop in and re-introduce myself again. No pics yet, but I'll add one to my profile in the near future. Let the mods begin... |
