Hi all I am new here and I am getting ready to buy a xb12r. I have had a lot of streetbikes in the past and currently I ride a '77 BMW R100. After riding the 1125R and the XB12R and the Lighting at a recent test ride event I am sold on the Firebolt for its blend of torquey power and handling (it suits me better than the 1125R). The question is should I wait for an '09 or look for a deal on an '08. Any advice? PS I have been lurking on this site for some time and the enthusiasm of Buell owners really sells me on the bikes (with less attitude than the BMW crowd). |

Unless the colors really move you, my opinion would be to wait until the '09s hit the floors and try to steal an '08. The minor improvements to the XB lineup probably aren't worth what you could talk a dealer down to on a '08. |

Stick with the 08 and get the white one |

I thought I was a one of a kind. I too came off a 77 r100, mine was a rs though, you'll be happy with an 04 to new, trust me. Your right about the less attitude of this crowd vs. the Beemer crowd, great group of folks here and all the others I know that ride Buells. My advice would be to buy a used 05 or 06 and save money for tire purchases (you'll need it) and fine refinements like exhaust upgrades and other what-nots. Just me though, however you do it, you'll be more than happy. One day, after the Beemers been parked for a while, you'll get on the old trusty machine, pin the throttle, and........be very disappointed at the power you've been tolerating all these years, and the lack of brakes. Have fun and enjoy your hunt for your 'bolt. Deadduck |

Thanks for the info guys...The local dealer has an 04 for 9K that seems kinda pricey-especially when an 09 is 10K. I am thinking more like $6500. Too bad that special is in Wash DC! |

An '09 will give you the new 8-piston caliper on the front. But you could also get an '08 for cheaper, then do the conversion yourself if you wanted to. Other than that they are pretty much the same. (Message edited by boltrider on July 22, 2008) |
