has anyone had their clock reset for no apparant reason? I went out to the bike this morning and noticed the clock was reading 100. I started it up and it would reset again a couple of times. I am going to blame this on the cold but I may be wrong. I rode for a while yesterday with no problems at all so i am trying to figure what it may be charles |

Check your battery connections. If the battery is disconnected it will reset the clock. Otherwise, I suppose it could be a bad backup battery inside the instrument cluster. Bryan |

thanks bryan. my only other thoughts were why is it that my trip meters arent reset? maybe the backup is just used for that? the trip meters are still at the point that they were. I will check tommorrow though. btw. your here for 11 more days right? I dont know if you like sushi but if you do Id be happy to take you out before you go to the good stuff |

Mook- Have you taken your seat off lately? Under it, the red lead to your battery may be pinched, and could be shorting. You gotta grind away some of the offending plastic seatpan rib to keep this from happening. I wonder if this is fixed on the 2004 models? |

Hmm...only the clock? It could still be the battery cables, because after I thought about it, the internal backup battery isn't for the clock, it's for the odometer (which is why you can't snip the power to the thing and rack up miles). Like Sherm said, take a look at the positive cable under the seat. They have a problem with the plastic seat pan rubbing through the insulation. I took an exacto-knife to mine and carved it out, I'd be happy to show you. As for sushi, I'm not a fan, although I love Japanese steakhouses, so if you know a good one and want to hit it before I leave, I'm game. Bryan |
