Long rides call for comfortable seats. Any suggestions? After 300 miles yesterday my rump was screaming |

The Corbin is much nicer than the stock seat for longer rides. It seems to feel better the longer you are on it. |

It's not the seat that's the problem -- it's your butt! I don't care of Corbin's. YMMV. Progressively ride longer rides to get your muscles in tune to what the saddle puts out -- look at what bicycle racers have to ride on for weeks at a time... Buy wicking underwear with good quality padding in them. Try Bike Nashbar on the net. |

I picked up a select seat and while it does seem more comfy, it's seating position seems to force me more forward. At 6'1" with a 36" inseam, this is a little annoying. I put the stock seat back on and it feels better now than it did before. |

My '08 XB12Ss is pretty comfortable on long rides. Does anyone know how that saddle compares to the Corbin? Not considering an upgrade yet, but was just curious as to what the opinions are. |

I'm finding the same thing as Marksm. The select seat came with my bike and I put it on as I'm setting up the suspension. It really does force the rider to a more central position. At speeds over 55, the wind helps you stay back so it is more comfortable there but I'm thinking of switching back for more general use. Spending more time setting up the suspension seems to take away most of the sore butt part.} |

I have a corbin on my Firebolt and really like it. Get some tight leather riding pants, no lie. It helps a ton. Stock seat for me is good for about 1 hour before getting discomfort. Corbin is 2-3 hours. Corbin with riding pants - I've gone 10+ hours with no discomfort. |

I'm thinking the riding pants suggestion is the truth. I've done 300 miles on my Bolt, and it seemed what was bothering me was my boxers and jeans bunching up in the crotch area from sliding around on the seat while cornering, I'm constantly having to stand up and readjust the package after 100miles or so. Some guys also wear padded bicycle shorts under their pants, supposed helps a ton, and a lot cheaper than a corbin or other aftermarket seat. |

I can't speak for the lightning, but the main problem with the seat on the firebolt is the soft, un-supportive padding. Wearing bike shorts will help, but it does not solve the original problem. |

True story - I was touring Nevada on day #3 when my right leg went numb. Turns out the seam in my underwear was cutting blood flow to my leg. Solution: lycra style wicking underwear. Bike Nashbar gel padded shorts are awesome! |

Can some one email me the lcoation for the Corbin seat. I asked Corbin if they made one for the 2008 firebolt in 3 different emails and have never got a reply. I am thinking of trying the buell seat. Any one use the Buell upgrade on the bolt? Darin |

SRWITT, I picked up some Diamond Gusset jeans and they are much more comfortable on the bike. Now if I could only find some boxers with the mighty gusset. They even make some with kevlar. |

On long rides I usually don on pajamas under my aerostich. I figure if I am comfy in bed, I should be comfy on the bike. The one thing that hasn't been mentioned. Those of you who dislike the factory seat, what is your weight? I am 175lbs (with gear) and find the stock cityx seat quite nice. |

I have a Corbin on my Bolt and it's great. I also spend hours at a time on a bicycle with an old-school leather saddle. I think it's one of those "use it or lose it" deals, if you ride regularly it's not a problem. Plus, on the more info than you may have wanted or needed front...I never wear filters, ever! I think that helps too. (Message edited by skinstains on July 08, 2008) |

I also spend hours at a time on a bicycle with an old-school leather saddle. You have a Brooks saddle? That is definitely hard core old-school. I know a couple of guys that swear by them, but I much prefer the slightly newer Selle-Italia Flite. Don't mean to hijack the thread. Seams in your underwear (or your pants) can be a major source of irritation over the long haul. Things you don't notice initially seem to grow over time. Aside from the strategically placed seams, another advantage of bike shorts is the support they provide your muscles. |

...didn't wear jammies, or Depends, or speedos or padded undie Don't knock it until you try it. If you are very comfy you arrive at your destination with less fatigue. I consider it a safety item.
