Well I didn't name mine. When I am riding it, it is too close to have a name. It more becomes a part of me. As an extension of me I consider it "my motorcycle", as are my other list-able parts,ie; hand, arm, head, and so on. Because the bike works the way it does, as (most)of my body does, I do not have to consciously call out to it for a response. It reacts to my inputs without the middle man(name). I don't have a name for my hand and I can send it to the keyboard to type this in the same way. When it is in the shed and someone asks, it is "my bike". When they see it, it is my "Buell". When I communicate with those around me who are in the know it is the "Uly" or "Ulysses". When I tipped it over last year it was(to my son)help me pick up this "Fu*!ing' Thing"!! |

The 'Buell' is what I call my bike. I get the heebie-jeebies when someone calls their bike a person's name, or they refer to it as 'she' or 'her'. ...shudder... That's just me, though. I don't care what anyone calls their bike. |

After reading this thread, I was pondering why I hadn't named my Buell yet. I just never put much time into my Buell besides riding it. The rest of my steeds seem to spent so much time on stands. I become more personal with those rides so they have names or at least personalities that I curse at. My dirtbike was always known as 'You Money-Grubbing Bitch.' For every dime that is given to keep her racing . . . I match it in time and tools to apply those parts. Thus the above is heard in the early hours of the day. Back to the Buell. I spend a fraction of the time in the garage working on her. I go out, turn the key and ride. I bring it home, check for any leaks and go to bed. It all begins again the next day. Damn, I love this bike. So It hit me today . . . My 2007 XB12STT is newly named: LIBBY At first it started as L.I.B., but Libby is more personal and it suits her. L.I.B. is short for Lightning In a Bottle! I find it somewhat clever but mostly . . . a good name. So once again, I thank the fine folks on this forum in reminding me to take care of my bike. It has been a great tool, this BadWeb. Thank You, from Libby and I |

I call mine "F*ck'n Bitch". That's what I yell at it when i'm working on it and something goes wrong. |
