Uh, you'll fowl the plugs when it's cold and you rev the engine... Or more correctly when you blip the throttle at idle. As far as just revving the engine with no load like in neutral or with the clutch pulled in... it's just no good for it. |

If you rev the engine to the point that the plugs foul, you either have a bike in an abysmal state of tune, or you'ce mistaken your right grip for your willy and keep trying to get it to spit in your eye. It's a no no because it's unneeded wear and tear on the engine. Like scratching an itch that doesn't exist. |

If you rev the engine for a brief time and don't get close to redline you'll be fine. One issue is that if your standing still there is little convection to remove the heat that reving generates. And maybe the other issue is that con rods have the greatest stresses put on them on the exhaust stroke and reving them with no load allows the cranshaft momentum to keep them at high rpm? Just how much are you reving the engine? |
