Will a stock muffler from an XB9S fit on a XB9R? Is the race ECM compatible with a stock muffler on a XB9R? Is any reprogramming necessary changing from a race to a stock muffler with a race ECM? Bike info: 2003, race muffler, race ECM, K&N air filter, XB12 air box cover w/extra holes, snorkel removed. Please reply only if you have knowledge and/or experience with this issue. Thanks. (I plan to sell my race muffler if I can convert back to a stock muffler.) |

You want to run a stock ecm with the stock pipe. I was running a race ecm with a stock can and it ran way too rich. Yes, a stock 9S can will fit a 9R though. |

Why do you say it ran rich? The ecm learns and corrects the entire map. I think theres a lot of false info out there. |

"Why do you say it ran rich?" 1) My tech said it was running rich when we hooked her up for a 2nd TPS 2) my plugs looked like they were dipped in an anal queens keester (3rd set) If the race ecm was meant to run with a stock can, I'm sure it would have been a stock item. |

The ecm learns and corrects the entire map. I think theres a lot of false info out there. That there is false info. The ECM is limited in how much it can adjust the fuel level. If what you say is right, then there would be no need for the Race ECM at all. |

Cheese, I have heard that the newer XB's do change for the muffler and air filter you have in. But the 03 don't thats why us 03 owners do the race ecm change and TPS reset. I could be wrong! Vtwinster, I have a stock ECM if you are interested let me know. It came off my bike when it had 2500 miles on it. |

The race ecm provides more aggressive timing and the fuel maps are adjusted to compensate. the ECM's from 03 to 07 are all pretty much the same. The chipset changed part numbers once, but the data stored on them is all the same. You'll see that the race provides more aggressive timing at the High TPS 3k range as well as High TPS/High RPM. Good luck looking at the data above. I copied it froma spreadsheet! |
