So, I noticed the otherday that my exhaust says JACKPOINT on it close to the back. Is this really a safe spot to use jack on the bike? My parents have a nice motorcycle jack thats made for cruisers that might work to lift the buell, but dont want to flatten the muffler |

I've noticed this too...I'd like to see an answer on that. I wouldn't want to destroy my race can. |

Yep. Use it every time I do a tire swap. Most here have created a jack cradle that they use with a floor jack. The muffler is quite strong. |

Several have taken a couple of 2x4's or 2x6's and made a frame to sit on a motorcycle jack. They cut the curve of the muffler out of the 2x's so it cradles the muffler and doesn't crush it. |

...it won't crush it, anyway, trust me. The stock muflers, Buell race cans, and (at the very least, original) Drummers made from stock cans are incredibly strong at the jackpoints (one each front and rear on the can). The cradle is nice because it helps keep the whole thing more stable (and one of these days, I might actually make a set, but until then a scissor jack works just fine). |

Anybody know if it's safe to jack the bike with a Micron under there? I've (hesitantly)done it with no damage, just wondering if it was a bad idea or not, with regards to structural integrity and so forth. To clarify, I used the forward most point of the can, under the front mounts as my jackpoint. Thanks. |

Ft_bstrd, do you have any pics of your cradle for your bike jack? I have been toying with the idea my self but wasn't sure how to go about it. I was going to just cut out some groves out of a piece of wood for the muffler to sit in. (Message edited by xb9rnutt on June 23, 2008) |

My old man had one of his shop guys fab one up for his Electra Glide. Traced the under frame out with a piece of cardboard, had Jose weld him basically a cradle with a knot on the bottom that fits perfectly into the scissor jack. We plan on doing this with the Bolt for both jack points. |

I have a Motorcycle jack that fits perfectly where the points are on the muffler. The problem I have is raising and lowering the bike by myself because the muffler is rounded on the bottom. It would be nice not to have to adjust tie downs while the bike is in the air. |

I don't have a picture of mine, but here is a template to build one out of 2x4s. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/ULYSSES_PIPE_TEMPLATE-159411.pdf http://img421.imageshack.us/img421/8190/pipecradle sonlift4pd.jpg |

Thank you Ft_Bstrd that makes me want to make one after work. That was the exact same idea I had I just haven't wanted to let the bike sit long enough to do all the measuring. LOL |
