wont let me scroll thru the trip meters. right now it is stuck on the clock. my guess is probably something to do with the actual button.? search on here didnt turn up anything other then battery terminal connections and wiring near the seat (trimming). any ideas on how to diagnose? EDIT: oh and i wont have a service manual too look at until sometime next week. (if that will even help me) (Message edited by simple on June 21, 2008) |

Well, depends how mechanical you are -- I would suggest taking the faring off, unbolting the headlight assembly -- anything that will let you get to the bolts that hold the dash cluster on. Once it is unbolted you should be able to unscrew the back from the front and once it is open you can see if the button functions by plugging the dash back in and testing the button and seeing the function of it. It might be an issue of alignment or fouling. I would highly suggest having the service manual to help you along. Note to self, photo the process when I work on my bike and archive it. I always remember that right as I am buttoning up. (Message edited by retrittion on June 21, 2008) |

My wife had a similar issue with her SCG. The button on the dash was just stuck. She managed to tweak it when she tried to push it in and it locked everything up. A little wiggle and it was all better. Never has happened again. It seems simple, but some times the easy things work. |

Use the BFH tool, that'll fix it.

See this write up on my Voltage Meter mod to see what the back of the cluster looks like. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/335986.html?1202653245 I'd bet the button is just stuck. Pull it apart and see what it looks like. |

The rubber push button can be pulled out of the face and the actual button is below on a card. Use a pencil type object to cycle the button. My 03 9s has the same problem. the rubber button is an extension and sometimes dosent line up right. |

weird how it just all of a sudden doesnt line up. got to be a way to fix it, permanently! Ft_bstrd, thanks for that link! i didnt even think of searching under "cluster". pix should tide me over nicely. btw, slick willy there with the LED indicator i think i might have to try that at some point. |

I just had my battery die (the original one from 03 so it was due) and I'm going to have to do the F_B voltage indicator mod on my bike. This would be a good idea for the factory to consider making a part of the stock cluster. (HINT HINT) |

alright, so i took it apart today. plugged it back in with the circuit board exposed, so i could push the button. still nothing. the button seems to be working fine, it is making the faint clicking sound when pressed, just still wont cycle the trip/odo. after reassembling it, the rubber dust cover button is lining up with it correctly as i can hear the same faint clicking noise when pressed. |
