08 XB12Ss with an original Drummer, everything else is stock with 1,200 miles. She popslike a mo fo on decel from 3G-2,400G. I know some popping/backfiring is normal due to excess fuel in the pipe that gets burnt up. I havent pulled the plugs yet, but there is a shat load of blacker than black soot (not oily soot) on the inside of the tail pipe. The dealer said this is normal, as long as the soot doesnt have sliver flakes in it.? Checked for exhaust leaks and have none. The bike runs fine with no problems what so ever. But I am only getting 30-33MPG, another reason why I think Im running way too rich. Any thoughts? (Message edited by boney95 on June 20, 2008) |

I think there's an ECM reflash that the dealer can do that seems to help with fuel mileage. So far I haven't read any reports of negative side effects on the Firebolts from this reflash. |

I had the ECM reflash done this thursday. The results were instant. Improved gas and performance. The dealer was hesitant as he had not heard of the reflash nor had the rep from Buell?! However, after showing him the Forum discussion and suggestions and finally hooking up the bike to the digitech, sure enough the reflash was there and was "down loaded". Not sure why Buell having this solution seems to be content on keeping it to themselves? |

Boney, My 08 with a Spec Ops does the same thing. Long as it isn't hurting anything, I don't mind. |
