Man, I don't know anyone with a palm pilot, and I don't want to pay for a cable that might get used once. Besides I don't have a laptop. Can you do a TPS reset with out all that stuff. I've got 12,000 miles and have done everything else. The dealer wants an hour of labor for a reset

To do a TPS reset, you need one of the following:

VDSTS
ECMSpy
Harley's Digital Technician
Or someone with any of the above

Your best bet in your case is to find someone in your area with one of the above. According to the BRAN, "Zenfrogmaster" and "Artful" live in Tuscon with you, so hit them up first. You could also try another dealer, or just not get it done. If your bike is running fine I wouldn't bother.

AN HOUR? What are they thinking. It takes less than 10mins TOPS! A the most they should charge you a half hour but thats extreme to me.

Too bad your not in the San Diego Cali area i'd do it for you.

The cable costs less than an hour of labor at the dealer... Even if you only use it once you'll be ahead.

The cable will pay for itself in an instant. Besides the stuffing around with the fuel maps etc and TPS resets, the most valuable thing the cable has done for me was to check an error when out touring. Having a thunb drive with all the ECMSpy data and the cable in my bags really put my mind at rest when I was 600km from home and the bike throwing random codes. Error turned out to be an O2 sensor playing up but AFR was reasonable so I kept going. Gave me the confidence to ride it home rather than trying to trailer it home. Hardest bit is finding someone to allow you to plug a computer into your tractor.

If you don't have a laptop.

TRACTOR... that's funny cause some of the guys I ride with periodically said it sounded like a tractor the first time they heard it start.

I think I'm going up on the 21st.. Maybe we can have a TPS pow wow. I'm not sure I really need one but seems to be a consensus that at 10,000 you SHOULD do one. Thanks BARTIMUS

'08 models the TPS resetting is accomplished without the need for a plug-in diagnostic tool:

Have the Run/Stop button set to Run.
Turn the ignition key to the On position but do not crank or start the engine.
Open the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.
Close the throttle fully to the stop and hold it there for one second.
Repeat the throttle open/close procedure a total of three times in succession.
Turn the ignition key to Off/On/Off/On/Off in succession to complete the procedure.

Is that only possible for 08' models?
