I just purchased a 05 XB12scg a couple of weeks ago and have had no problems until these last two days when I was going through a motorcycle safety class on base. Here in Virginia Beach the temps were over a hundred on Monday and Tuesday and I was on the blacktop and not getting out of 1st gear very much. The lights would pop on and off during the course though I had no problems with the bike. When I would ride home and get some speed and air going through the bike the lights would not come back on. The fluid levels are good and the oil was recently changed (less than 100 miles). Any thoughts before I take it to the mechs? | ||

At least when I took the course there was A LOT of sitting on the bikes, waiting to be the next to go... If this is the case, maybe she was overheating with no wind to cool her down? Surely your leg was on fire though if it was getting that hot | ||

I feel ya about the heat(Williamsburg) It was over 100 in the shade. I could imagine that on the blacktop, it could get to 120 pretty easy. Sitting and idling in that heat might be more than the fan can handle, and the computer would go into "skip spark" mode to help cool things down. I'd say watch it closely for a while, but like you say, you rode it and it seemed fine.
