Just wondering what the part cost should be for doing an Scg conversion on an R. As far as the suspension portion, can I change out springs and re-valve so as to keep my current suspension parts?

Oh, and part numbers would be great too if someone has them.

Thanks!

Someone in the classifieds was looking to sell their scg parts for standard not too long ago.

I was able to find someone that wanted to swap and it only cost a trip across the state
to trade the parts when I decided to do mine. Put out the call and maybe someone will answer.

I love the conversion, but it does ride a bit harsher than the original suspension.

Remember that you need the forks, lower triple (if your 'bolt is newer than 04) rear
shock, and the kickstand.

Custom suspension conversion can be done, and it can pay huge dividends to have it tuned
properly for your weight and riding style, but it will in most cases be on the expensive
side. Traxxion Dynamics and GMD computrac both have a lot of experience with Buell
suspension work. In fact Max McCallister at traxxion is supposed to have been involved
with the creation of the original specs for the XB line. This may or may not be true, it
is was conveyed to me in the pits at a race so take it with a grain of salt.

I have a '07 XB12R so I am looking at a dealership re-spring and re-valve possibly during an upcoming servicing -- but it depends on price and I am a bit tired of dealing with HD dealers so I might go with a custom suspension shop (GP is just down I5 from me). If I do the suspension change though a suspension company what specs are they gonna need to emulate the Scg suspension results? I am starting to like some progressive springs sized to give me the CG lowering in front and a nice one to complement that on the back. Might run down to the track in Portland when GP is there and have a chat -- good excuse for a ride!

I have been talking to someone about a trade but I am also interested in doing the switch because I enjoy working on motorcycles -- call it my zen. I am interested in trying an Scg tail for a bit to see how it is and that might be what we do with the swap, trade and test it to see if we both like it. We'll see, in the mean time I am just looking for another excuse to wrench. I really do enjoy working on this bike.

Thanks for the feedback.
