Sea Foam is the only thing I'd use. Of course there's gonna be a debate about this.... |

Sea foam is good. lotsa different kinds out there. even that chevron techron use to be pretty good. back a few years ago i used that slick 50 stuff. it seamed to work pretty good. nowadays i use premium fuel only in all my vehicles(cept my old dodge van). premium meaning chevron,shell,76 brand 91 octane not beacon or arco and such! |

How would you "run it through" the injectors? Adding it to the fuel? Isn't that a no-no? |

I asked a HD/Buell mechanic, "Do I need to add it directly to the throttle body or add it to gas?" "Add it to the tank" |

Read the instructions on what ever you use. I use STP but one bottle treats up to 21 gallons. So I use about 1/4 bottle and dump the rest in the car. I don't know how it would run on a full bottle. |

SNAKE OILS!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha. Just run good gas and don't waste the money on that other BS! My day job is a tech for M.B. and we have an "injector / induction" service and i'm pretty convinced its just snake oil. and this is super concentrated stuff straight through the fuel rails (have to shut off fuel system) and Ive done emissions tests before and after on a car with about 50k on the clock and barely a difference at all! The stuff you dump in the tank is even less concentrated, so I doubt it does any better..... just my 2 cents guys! |

Before I bumped my compression, I did research on ways to increase the octane level. I ran across the Klotz products and decided to give it a try and this is what I discovered. I first ran the additive in my stock motor before any work was done. My bike performed stronger in the upper rpm range with the additive. When on pumped gas alone the motor seemed to struggle to get to 130mph, after adding this additive the bike would get to this speed quickly and I had the impression there was plenty of throttle left. When I pulled the motor apart to get the cylinders honed to the new pistons and to get the combustion chamber to mate the dome for an even squish band, I quickly noticed that the carbon build-up on the stock pistons was reducing. The reduction was evident by the stain that was left on the pistons that mated with the carbon build-up. I suspect that this product would be a good candidate for cleaning the injectors. http://www.klotzlube.com/storeProdDetails.asp?pi=50 (Message edited by point_doc on June 07, 2008) |

The German car manufactures don't recommend anything not made in Germany because it's "crap". But when I worked for Porsche & Audi, they listed a product to be used for fuel injection issues, Chevron Techron, by brand name. That to me means that there is no better product produced by man for injection issues/cleaning. A buddy of mine worked for Mercedes Benz and stated they did also. I know for a fact if you go to a GM dealership today and buy injection cleaner, it's Chevron fuel injection concentrate sold under their label. All these manufacturers can't be wrong. To me at least, everything else is "snake oil", hear say garbage. |

Umm, so if a car manufacturer suggests a product that product's manufacturer usually made a deal to get that -- usually a either a cross-promotion deal or cash. Business is business these days. |

nothing a small amount of ATF (dexron IV) won't fix if you really need to put something in the fuel. Otherwise you should be taking the sqirts to a fuel injection workshop and having them cleaned properly. This includes having the grit screens cleaned and flow tested. Don't be alarmed if they tell you to toss them and get new ones. |

Don't be alarmed if they tell you to toss them and get new ones. They're cheap enough, getting to them is time consuming though. |

Sounds like using injector cleaner is a bad idea for XBs. I have used Barryman's cleaner for ages in my injected V8s though and everytime I run it the fuel economy increases by a notable percentage, though. |
