I have one on my 07 Ss with no other mods. Sounds great but negligable performance gain. Moving up to a D&D because the Spec Ops on my wife xb9 is louder, and we just can't have that now can we. |

You cannot realize the full potential of one part without having parts working in conjunction modified as well. You will never get the full potential of a pipe without a new air filter and retune/different ecm. You can check on American Sportbike to see the performance of different exhausts. In my mind, for the gains in the area I wanted, the only exhaust better than Odie's was the Micron. Back to the original post, Odie (maker of the special ops) modifies the stock exhaust (although sometimes he does have some in stock and you can send your's in as a core) so there is absolutely no reason your 08 can wouldn't fit after the special ops treatment Phil |

Thanks the only reason i was curios about the pipe only was that on the 08 there is no ecm upgrade available i was just wondering if any one with an 08 has tried it yet . The bike in standard form goes great i was just after a bit more noise rather than performance ! |

From what I know the ECM on a Buell only needs retuning when you add the airfilter to a aftermarket exhaust -- just a SpecOps by itself can be handled ok by the stock ECM (it will adapt). That said, you can always benefit from some ECM retuning, even a stock Buell can, but ECM wizards are as hard to find as suspension savants -- gotta search. |

I have a Spec Ops can on my 08 XB12R. The 08's do not require a TPS reset. The ecm "learned" the new pipe rather well and no adjustments were needed for it to run correctly. You will notice the popping on decel is more pronounced than stock. I am fortunate enough to have an ECMspy guru who lives near by. He captured my stock map before and after the Spec Ops can. ECMspy showed the ECM "learned" rather well. It also showed there is still room for minor tweaks but I have not done so as of yet. (Message edited by Paint shaker on June 01, 2008) |

Paint shaker do you notice the RPM seems to drop slower to idle than it did with the stock pipe & you say the ecm learned to adapt , how long did this take or what did you do ? |

The RPMs do seem to drop a little slower. Only thing I did after the install was to run at a constant RPM for about 15 miles. |
