How about sharing more information with us. For instance; which exhausts are you considering and why? Depending on which exhaust you may choose, the job can be as easy as removing the chin fairing, one clamp and three straps and remove can. Reverse sequence and you’re done. Or, you can do the previous and then prepare to roll your motor forward. By separating the motor from the frame and slowly lower the motor with a scissor jack. Remove header, install gaskets and now reverse the order. Don’t forget to use your torque wrench!!! (Message edited by point_doc on May 28, 2008) |

Go to AmericanSportbike.com and check out the exhaust shootout. The best source of information on XB exhausts PERIOD! There you'll find everything you need to know. Schmitty |

+1 to Schmitty, plus you can listen to sound files of each pipe. I removed my old pipe and installed the Buell race can in about an hour with removal and re-install of the chin fairing. Without stands. Its not that bad. Just have the right tools. |

Go to AmericanSportbike.com and check out the exhaust shootout. That is a good place to start for info. The one problem that I have with the aftermarket offerings available in the U.S., is that they are all too loud. If you want loud, you are in luck. |

Mark, I'm with you. The only thing I want out of an aftermarket exhaust is RUST-PROOF. Trojan has some REAL nice looking e-certified exhaust systems. Unfortunately, unlike Al, he does not have a report comparing power bands/torque curves, and ordering from Europe right now is prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately, MOST Americans buy exhaust systems to make up for other "shortcomings," and there isn't any real market for quiet, socially responsible exhausts. Not enough to build a viable business model, anyway. |
