Why can't I find that one Ducatiesque custom? Searching and searching and nothing. You know the one I mean? Red, gold wheels, carbon fiber, single sided swingarm, twin ZTL, etc. etc. Help please. DOOM |

Hey Smiley, soon I'll be moving to your neck of the woods (well kind of, I'll be stationed at Patuxent River NAS soon) so maybe we can set up some rides... I know, a little off topic, but I thought what the heck... -Sam |

Kinda gives a new definition to the term "engine-braking". Very very cool setup though. I've got the jealously...

I've never seen anything like that. Very cool! Didn't think it even would be structurally sound? |

If you look closely you can see that the front rim is not the same as a normal XB rim. It doesn't have the thin spokes. That probably makes it more structurally sound. Very nicely done though. -Sam |

Two "ZTLs", can you say over kill? Look closely and you can see the welded tabs to keep the rotors. The brake rotor is on the outside of the rim, it don't float. The SSS is way heavier than a stock XB's swingarm. It's a cool custom I guess, if you're into that kind of thing. Why are the "cool" custom bikes "cool" because of added bling? I wonder just how much more that thing weighs than a stocker. |

Glitch, I'm sorry to disagree with you but as I have higher resolution pics available I am pretty sure the rotors are still fully floating. Sure there's additional weight due to the beefier rim and extra rotor but the design is still done quite nicely for a one-off job. And I seem to remember some discussion from when this guy was still building his bike and the SSS was said to be lighter than stock IIRC. Again, I don't mean to bash you or anything. I have been known to be wrong before though. -Sam |

Maybe it has 2 ZTLs to make up for the lack of a rear brake? Or am I just overlooking something? That swingarm is KICK... ASS, weight be damned. ~SM |

If the guy wanted a Ducati he should have just bought one. |

Rear brake on output sprocket, like inboard brakes on old Jaguars... Bike looks cool, but 2 ZTLs??? Like putting TWO JATO bottles on your Impala but in reverse. Z |

Again, I don't mean to bash you or anything. I have been known to be wrong before though. I don't take it as bashing at all, just misinformed, or uninformed. A Ducati SSS is heavier than a stock Buell swing arm. |

Somebody has extra money and time!!! I can appreciate this bike, original and clean. With that said; form over function seems to get away from why we like our Buell’s. There is a lot of extra weight added to this ride. I like the brake on the final drive but now there is added rotational weight to the motor, why?. I am going to guess that the owner has also done motor and trans. work? Weight, weight, weight, the bike looks like a heavy weight waiting for someone to punk from light to light. Again I can appreciate the work and originality; but I’m a rider and need function over form and this is why I own a Buell! (Message edited by point_doc on May 23, 2008) |

I'd love a double ZTL, one attached by a proportional valve to the rear brake, and the SSS is pretty cool too -- if you could do it with a belt I would even consider it. But yeah -- I went with Buell for function over form and so far the only function I don't like about my R is the headlights -- and despite my occasional frustrations with that I like the fact that headlights are my major gripe with the bike. Man, thats still a seriously trick bike -- very cool. |

Thanks for the pics, cool bike!! These new photos has allowed me to have a closer look at your bike (nice), but your tires have rather large “CHICKEN STRIP's". What’s up? |

A Ducati SSS is heavier than a stock Buell swing arm. If I recall, that is not a Ducati SSS it is one that he fabricated himself and has the oil inside. Whether it is lighter or not ? DOOM (Message edited by Thulsadoom on May 23, 2008) |

He welded an oil tank to the inside of the arm. It may very well be a Honda swing arm, it's still heavier. I never said it wasn't a cool looking custom. |

It's a modified Triumph Daytona/Speed triple swing arm. It don't look like no Ducati to me! I think from memory the headlight is a Suzuki item, The only Ducati item is the seat unit who cares what it weighs it looks Sooo Cooool. I'll be doing a very similar swing arm mod to my Buell very soon. As said above, He did it because he can! |
