I have taken off my air scoops, left and 'right' sides. I haven't had a noticeable difference in power delivery, and it shows off the engine n' lights I have I was messing with the airbox the other day and noticed that snorkel goin through the frame. It's big on the top and shrinks down at the bottom at the intake. I ask myself, why does it constrict itself like that, its cutting off air that could be had? Air is good right? Im thinking of cutting it in half, doin that will give the engine more air to breath . . . . . .has anyone done the same?if not ya should!! |

Yikes! no scoops! some people ADD a right scoop to increase air flow to the rear cylinder. Seems you might compramize cooling? most people also plug the snorkel completely. Check out the search feature for both topics you will find volumes and volumes of info on both topics |

Remove the scoops at your own risk. You wouldn't notice a power difference, as it's designed to help keep the engine from over heating, not add power. If you do notice a power drop, chances are the damage has already been done. The snorkel on the other hand, you can cut it in half, or remove it completely. |

Put the RRS back on, it helps keep air over the fuel rail. |

Put your scoops back on. They're there for a reason. If you like the look of the engine, maybe an older Buell (tube frame) might satisfy you. Hex |

This is kind of like removing the front brake on your chopper 'cuz it looks neater without it. Congrats on putting the scoop back on. I don't care for the right side scoop so much, but it is better than running without either! |

A sponsor carries both carbon and plastic RSS/LSS parts. Also, changing the air (more or less) might mean you need to adjust the brain -- at a certain point the stock program can't handle mods and your start running lean/rich. Both are bad. Yeah, air cooled motorcycle = needs to scoops! |

well now with the LSS my lights for the engine bay are blocked, shittasticle... Im wondering if I can have a shop make a LSS & RSS with a clear glasslike plastic, then my bike and I will both be happy. If there are clear scoops somewhere i'll pay top dollar for em!!! PS: I've been talking to a prototype CNC machine shop, for the idea of making a air scoop just for the intake, it will cup 'nd attach at the bottom of the frame/hole... for a RAM AIR Effect |

I would be wary of messing too much with Buell engineering -- they suck at headlights but they do everything else pretty darn good. As far as clears, ff you could make a translucid RSS and LSS there are probably people who would buy them. Personally, I'd say just go carbon fiber all around and your bike will look plenty trick with that and the lighting. Do I sense some squiddyness tendencies? |
