anyone know if I can move the muffler without loosening the rear axle and idler pulley? I'm trying to remove the kickstand. the two bolts that hold it are so long they hit the top of the muffler when I unscrew. Oh, and one bolt is sheared off, but I'm still in denial about it |

}anyone know if I can move the muffler without loosening the rear axle and idler pulley? On my 08 XBSs: Remove the chin fairing, remove the rear brake assembly to access the two rear clamps on the can. Use an extension with a deep socket to loosen the nuts. Then remove the front clamp on the can. Easy |

Well It turns out I didnt have to do all that crap that the manual stated. 1. Loosen rear axle 2. Remove Idler pulley 3. Remove Muffler I got to the muffler straps with a deep socket 11mm and a "bendy" extension. The sheared bolt I removed with a cheapo home drill and an extracting bit. Then I drove down to local Harley shop and got the replacement bolts (they had them in stock!) Total cost: 37 $ Grin on my face : Priceless Note to self: There's always more that one way to resolve an issue.
