Just made one today... Mouser Electronics for the cable http://www.mouser.com 626-DLP-TTL232R From FTDI USB to TTL Batts Racing for the socket http://www.deutschconnector.com/ Plug, Gray, 4-Socket, complete with sockets and wedgelock DT06-4S-Assy Instructions for the assembly of the wire and plug http://ecmspy.com/ EASY...just three wires to connect. I soldered mine, in the instructions they crimped them. (Message edited by point_doc on May 15, 2008) |

Thanks for the help. I can save me some money by getting the Deutsch plug and terminals from work. (Message edited by wantxbr on May 15, 2008) |

Well, got my usb cable today..jus waiting for the plug to arrive so I can assemble the cable. Newbie here....where exactly does the cable plug into???? Does the ECM have a port where the 4 pin plug connects or? XB12S..found what I think must be the ECM access plug..just to the right of the ECM under the set..4-wire socket, with a grey rubber plug. If you're talking about a firebolt it's on the left side of the faring. Right behind the high beam reflector housing. It's gray, has a rubber seal to protect the connectors from the elements. I dunno about Lightning ect.. |

The plug for the Lightning is under the seat near the back. It might be wedged in somewhere but you can't miss it. It's the only wiring that isn't connected to something and has a rubber plug in the end. |

On building the cable...I would strongly recommend soldering the leads to the pin even if you have already crimped them...we found communications while data logging worked better. All the vibration in the bike was causing transmission time outs... |

Jos51700 You have to click on the Wrench and Gear TAB, next to the KEYS (That opens up your program options). Scroll down to what looks like an address bar(click on the little box to the right of the window) and look for English, select and your done. |

I had found that, I was referring to the website he cited. It's in German. |

Jos, just go to ecmspy.com, it is the english version of the page. You can navigate to all of the info from there. EDIT: Doh, just noticed that even from that link, the PDA page is in german. If you are using Internet Explorer, there is a "translate" option at the top of the browser, it works pretty well. (Message edited by ratyson on May 19, 2008) |

I had to run it through Babel Fish to get semi-english. Still not sure what "So that the Palm can be supplied also to the Buell with river" means. |

Looked up the cable on mouser today and it shows as obsolete. This is the only similar one that doesn't show as obsolete...626-DLP-TTL232R-3V3B. Is it the same thing? |
