Young kid who wrote the work order to change the light bulb in the truck drives it in, does the work. I'm at the counter paying and see the Triumph brochure tossed on the desk behind him. I ask. He says, "yeah, look at this. I've been wanting a new bike and I went to Monmoth Honda/Triumph yesterday. I laughed, told him he was young and should hold to a minimum the number of poor life choices he makes, walked to the truck extracted a 2004 Buell brochure (with Waterloo, IA stamped on the back by the way) headed back in and began my talk to turn him from the dark side. Called the factory, got the number of the local dealer, called the dealer, scheduled young Ray's demo for 2:00pm the following day and told him it was now time for us to finish our business. Finish?....sayeth he. Yes, I need you to tear up the Triumph brochure. You'll never need it again and seeing it will only remind you of how stupid you were and how close you came to missing the RIDE OF YOUR LIFE. I never, for the record, indentified myself as a Buell Salesman....I just play one on TV. But...as I walked out the door, I was thrilled to hear young Ray tell his older co-worker..."that sumbitch is crazy". He'll love the XB. I said it once, I'll say it again...if a dealer can't sell these things they should be bitch slapped. Buell has listened and done what the owners ask. Court | ||

Not the dealers story again, While on my way to the 20th event I stopped at a dealer in Ontario just off hwy 401 near Toronto as I had been in the saddle for 250km and needed a stretch. Walks into the showroom and wanders over to look at a couple of real nice custom choppers (not my cup of tea but I really appreciate the work involved in preparing one). The Harleyish sales man goes out of his way to excuse himself from his existing customer to tell me he would be right there. After about 5 minutes I spot a XB12 upon a display and immediately go over to it. I spent about 20 minutes looking at this thing when finally I wandered back to the same guy and asked the retail price as I was interested in a new toy. Had he showed some interest I would have given serious consideration to buying one (but have since bought a different toy). His response was "I don't know much about the Buells but someone over there (pointing to the rear of the showroom with his finger) knows about them and maybe you should go find him." I then asked the busty bubbly blonde gal behind the counter if there were any Buell guys in the shop that I could talk to and her response was "I think a couple of the service tech ride them but they are busy now." I think the that kind of dealers should have their Buell taken from them and given to people who have a genuine interest in selling these wonderful machines. On the other hand the Retailer in Kingston, ON is #1 for Buell Interest and Knowledge. THe guys race Buells in the Canadian Thunder series and are the best. The riders on the Buells also took the Canadian Thunder Championship this year over the Ducatis. | ||

Just picked up my new 9R. I think I found the last blue one in California. Did the engine breakin this weekend. Recommend the touring seat. Makes my S-2 feel like it is a big pig. Break in just plain kills you by having to go so slow. I thought some cars were going to run me over. Shopping around for a D&D Pipe. | ||

I would take a vacation day off of work to come get it, BUT I'm saving those days to go to Arkansas late October Early November to see my son before he goes to Turkey for a year !!! Won't give up those few days !! I'm sure going to miss that boy, at least now I talk to him every week, not sure how that's going to work out there but he said he'd get a phone if he could !! LOL...shoot, riding my Firebolt around and then getting on a buddy's M2, that thing sure felt like a fat pig. With or without saddlebags. I rode my friend's Katana 600 the other day. Decent power, hate having to shift like mad, and that thing felt like a land barge compared to my 'bolt. | ||
