2200 miles on my Ss and my worst tank was 41 mpg. Some of my most aggressive riding on that tank though. Most tanks are 44-47 mpg |

6300 miles and i have yet to get under 42 mpg even in town. I have even reached 50 on interstate |

My 06 Uly gets about 49-51 mpg, with windy country roads at 55-80 mph most of the time. I find my mileage is improving as I learn to trust the bike through corners; I think I'm holding my speed in the corners and don't have to accelerate out of them as much. Maybe breaking in better too as it seems to run better than when I got it with 4 thoughsand something on it. Bike has about 6800 miles on it.

My 03 XB9 has 12,000 miles and I average 45-50 MPG. |

I am coming up on 1,500 miles and get right around 40 mpg on my '08 XB12Ss with half on the freeway at around 70 mph and the other half in town and country stuff. Average ride is about 30 miles. This is up from around 33 mpg when I first got it.
I am 5'9" and 200 lbs, and not a hard charger,(most of the time).
Seems like the older high mileage bikes get better mpg.
I may be losing a little bit because I give a slightly long warm up time, I am also thinking that maybe I should wind up my in town "cruising" rpm from around 3,000 to above 3,500 rpm whenever possible and see how that works.
Another note, it took my Sportster XL1200s about 5,000 miles to fully break in, and then with synthetic oil I averaged around 50 mpg, so maybe just need more miles.
Maybe someone know how to set up a chart where we can compare mpg to year, total miles, mods, and type of riding ?????? |

Mine got noticably better between 2000-2500 miles. Went from 45 average to 53 average on a 30 mile mixed commute to work. I'd say never over 65, never under 45 and average 3-4 light stops.
Spirited weekend riding still easily in the 40s... |

My '08 TT went from 38MPG on the first tank to 43MPG on the last one, and not to 500 miles on the clock yet. Mostly in-town riding. |

Watch the seasonal gas too, I live in the Chicago area, and from early April to the end of May or so, my milage went up about 6-7mpg average because they got rid of the winter blend gas, and also some because of the decreased oxygen density in the warmer air. I know it's not all in my head because my work car went from 26-ish back up to about 31 as well. My personal opinion is that the gas companies are staying on the winter blends longer and longer each year to squeeze more and more money out of each dollar. Hence $10 Billion in profit the first quarter for Exxon.... |
