Anyone have any recommendations on frame sliders(besides the pucks)? The only ones I see to fit the xb models are relatively expensive. Thanks! |

i thought the only way you could get actual frame sliders for these was to have the threads welded on to the bike (at least thats what the race bikes have) |

Frame pucks do work i just laid mine down and no scratches on the frame and a new puck is only $30. Check out axle sliders too i know they are expensive but i am wishing i had them cause i now have scratches on my rear swing arm. |

Check out axle sliders too i know they are expensive but i am wishing i had them cause i now have scratches on my rear swing arm. We sell the EcoSeries for $34.95/axle. It's pretty cheap for custom Buell XB specific sliders plus we sell replacement parts. http://www.darkhorsemoto.com/html/sliders.html Keith DarkHorseMoto, LLC Protecting and Propelling Buell MotorcyclesTM |

Frame puck alternatives are few (that I know of) and are limited to: http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/pc4.html Personally the full-length carbon is nice but very expensive, and I wouldn't use the bobbins since they mount to the engine -- I don't want the energy of the crash transmitted to the engine or engine mounts. My .02 cents. +1 on the Dark Horse Moto Eco sliders -- I have them on my 12R and they look great and it didn't cost much at all to get swingarm/fork/barends. Install was straight forward and they are still rock-solid. I laid a bike down with out sliders a few years back and even a lowside slide did 6x or more $$$ of damage than these prtectors cost. Seems a good investment to me. My 12R with the sliders and pucks: http://retrittion.googlepages.com/myxb12r3 (also the pic in my profile, but it's a bit low-rez) Cheers! |

Going to have to echo M1...the Buell frame pucks might not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but there's countless accounts of how well they work, and they're dirt cheap besides. ...and major proprs to Keith and his sliders for some additional protection, they're top-notch. =D |

Buells crash incredibly well. The frame pucks are, like all Buell engineering, a very good and simple solution to the problem. Most crashes exceeding the puck's ability to deal with it would also be too severe for frame sliders to be of much assistance. |
